    When I requested my medical files, they could not find any of them the first time. I asked again and got a couple records. At the same time I requested my "C File" and found my eye exams, which are key to my claim, double vision. The moral of the story is don't settle for a few records, keep asking until you get what you need. She is right is takes a long time, so start early.

    I went through this request process in September 2021 and here it is the end of January 2022 and I still don't have my AD medical records. Meanwhile, my disability claim for my service connected injury way back in 1978 has been denied as not being service connected and my medical records was used to help the VA make their determination. I'm now going to contact my congressman office and make the request through them as the VA has 30 days to respond. I had to go through this process about 10 years ago when I was getting the runaround with my DD-256 request.

They rated me ONLY on my MOS because they couldn't find the medical records. I have been trying for 9 months to get my medical records with no luck. I am running out of time on my intent to file. I submitted a VA claim after I got out in August through a vso. Before I got out I got all of my records from the Naval Hospital at Camp Lejeune burned to a disc. I am being told by my VSO that I am waiting for the VA to receive an official copy of my service treatment records, in which they have already requested. Is this documentation that I already submitted not good enough? I was told by my VSO that the VA has to request this as part of their procedure. Does this sound right or no? I have known a ton of vets that have gotten out and got their decisions much quicker than what I have waited already.

  • @TheVeteranCoach

    @TheVeteranCoach

    Hey there, thank you for the comment! Did you submit your disk/records with your submitted claim? If so, you can select the option on va.gov to decide your claim now (no new evidence to be submitted). If not/or if you selected the option authorizing them to do their "due diligence" to locate records, it may take a while for them to "find" them.

    @anthonyovitt6685 it sounds like it is His way of doing All VA Claims, but it is certainly not the only way. I assume that since he is a VA employee they have a standard operating procedure for what they have to select on your claim submission, and I assume he selected the option for the VA to gather your records for you (even though you submitted everything you had). This slows things down, which the VA is known for.

    Greetings ! I’m I able to find out the status of a Request from VA to National Personnel Record Center? It was sent in December 2022 when I filled my Va claim. No response apparently from NPRC. The curious thing , is that myself request my STR to NPRC, and they reponded to me in 3 days .. how can they respond to my request in 3 day and to the VA it has been 8 months .🤔

  • @TheVeteranCoach

    Most requests for records take about 12 months, so sadly the request could still be in the process. If you personally received a response with a copy of your records, you can upload them to the VA yourself and there is no need for the VA to receive them directly.
