    1) Take boring breaks. Do NOT do things in your break time that give you MORE dopamine than the tasks you do after your break time. 2) Take control of "In-Between" moments(Waiting for your order, Walking to a bus stop, Standing in line, etc...!) in your daily life where you take out your phone for a quick dopamine hit and replace it with something boring. 3) Do things ONE thing at a time. When you are eating, eat. When you are working, work. Stop multitasking and put full focus on 1 thing whatever it is.

Cynical way of looking at it is it was formatted to do the same thing as every other video on YT: Give us a dopamine hit for numbers and retention. 'Self help' is a multi-billion dollar industry and it isn't because it helps people. It's because our brain gets dopamine from feeling like we changed even though we didn't actually do anything. Apps and video games also profit off of a false sense of progress. We've all heard everything he's saying and yet here we are unchanged and in the comments section (the real reason we're here) Tricky tricky

Summary: Power of Dopamine: - Dopamine is the neurotransmitter that makes you want to do more - Master your dopamine to master focus - Cheap dopamine desensitizes your dopamine receptors (tiktok, tv, games, junk food, etc) - Re-sensitize your dopamine receptors to make boring work interesting How to Re-sensitize Dopamine Receptors: - Take boring breaks (walk, stretch, wall stare - don't tiktok, watch tv, use phone - avoid breaks that give you more dopamine than the task) - Inhabit the in between (silent walks, observe breath when waiting, etc - don't use phone) - Do everything one at a time, don't multi-task

@@preacher3451Friend, I agree with you on all of this. But aren’t you forgetting an essential component? Baptism. When you are baptized (for the remission of your sins) your body of sin is put to death with Christ and raised up with Him (Roman’s 6:1-6), as a new creation IN Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Now I’m not saying baptism is a work of men, but rather it is a work of God (Ephesians 2:8-10) (James 2:20-24). I completely agree with you that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, but we’ve been taught that faith without works is dead. Thus forth when we decide to be baptized, we are just simply obeying what He has commanded us (Mark 16:16) what we must do in order to come into contact with the cleansing power of the blood through Baptism :). In order to be saved. For we were taught in (1 Peter 3:21) (NKJV) “…There is also an antitype which now saves us-baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,…” We are taught in (Galatians 3:27) “For as many of you as were BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST have PUT ON Christ.” If you have any questions please contact :) God bless ❤

This is brilliant. I feel like I finally understand why it's so difficult to achieve discipline simply by 'just doing the thing'. I always thought a flow state is something you'd get into AFTER you become disciplined, but based on what you've said it seems discipline is the result of cultivating the flow state FIRST.

Another thing about discipline is viewing yourself as disciplined envisioning yourself being disciplined doing things you envision that version of yourself doing. But this is good information. To just there are way to sort of supercharge the speed at which you reach a certain point and that’s from active repetition visualization and yea this advice about making things less dopamine filled is good to. The thing is you need a bit of discipline to initially star5 engaging with taking these steps in the video. If you don’t have discipline you “can’t” handle not scrolling, etc… you need a little discipline to start doing those tasks then from there it becomes easier, and discipline begets more discipline ultimately.

It's something like a virtuous addiction. Most of the drugs people become dependent on are triggering a large release of dopamine (hence the slang name "dope"), or other neurochemicals that are part of flow. However the drugs can only trigger one or two. The flow cycle, on the other hand, triggers _all_ of them. It's a cocktail that's way more addictive than any single or pairing of its ingredients. Once you experience it, you crave it more than even drugs. So you start chasing flow for another taste of the cocktail. To anyone on the outside looking in, it looks like you have superhuman discipline. In reality you just have your inner junkie on a tight leash.

yeah there might be plenty of different reasons for that, life is complicated :/ i just have one idea that is true for me and was wondering if it maybe applies for you. sth that i learned about myself in therapy: just as social media, drugs or anything that gives dopamine FANTASIES can be addictive as well. while i was always proud of my creativity and thinking through a lot of stuff to do things right (or rather avoid conflict maybe), i came to the conclusion that (just like with any addiction) the dependence and ratio of that, of time spent with daydreaming or overthinking was just not healthy, not balanced. oftentimes "doing nothing" or going for a walk didn't do anything for me because i just fled from reality and get my dopamine by fantasiesing... so we got to change our way of thinking as well. learning to truly rest is what im on atm. i should continue meditating, its important for me to learn how to focus and let go of thoughts. its not going super well tbh but i guess it takes time. hope that helped you or someone else maybe, good night:)

Maybe just try and make a morning routine - and make some goals for the day. But don’t make it too unachievable/different to how you currently do. E.g. if you regularly get out of bed at 12 try and say at 11:15 you will get up, have a glass of water, have a shower, get dressed and eat breakfast. And the goal is that by 1 o’clock you have tidied your room a little bit - or gone for a run. Once you make productivity a part of your routine you will see, over time, how you can change habits and continue to become more productive

The gospel, or the Good News, is the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. It tells us that all humans are sinners and separated from God because of our sinful nature. This video has to been one of the best videos out there on this topic. So many of others tell you to meditate and to go into “monk mode” to achieve hyper focus to maximize your “potential”, but lack an explanation to why the information be provided is valuable, which I feel defeats the whole purpose of creating the video in the first place. And even though this has been a topic covered but many others in this space, I do believe that this channel has so much potential and am excited to watch it grow. In the words of Alex Hermozi, you don’t reinvent the wheel, you just found a way to make it better. Keep up the good work!

@@Secret_Pickle It's important to note that slavery was nearly everywhere, especially in Rome where Paul was writing from. Sometimes the best you can do is lessen the atrociousness. By "lessen the atrociousness," I mean teaching things like "slaves should be treated as equals" (Ephesians 6:9), and "slaves should seek freedom as much as they can" (1 Corinthians 7:20-24). You can't say "Slavery is bad!" and instantly remove all slavery from the world. What you _can_ do is say "If you're going to have slavery, you should do it this way so you don't end up committing atrocities." Slavery is bad - no one's denying that - but slavery also exists.

As I've been trying to improve my mental health one thing I started doing was trying to do only one thing at a time. The reasoning was that too much stimulation (multitasking, constant input like music or videos, social media) was one of the things making my brain overly jumpy and causing constant anxious thoughts and, if gone unnoticed for too long, would lead to panic attacks. I'm still in a "transition period" but it has been helping a LOT, and wow, this video is exactly what I needed to actually get work done. "boring breaks" is definitely what I need, I even sort of started doing those by just sitting and doing absolutely nothing as another way to minimize that terror of being alone with my thoughts. If i stop giving my brain constant information to process, it'll settle back down. Funny how I was kinda doing what this video was saying, but for completely different reasons! Time to actually get things done then...!

This isn't the usual but lately and by lately I mean around the beggining of this week I've been noticing my attention span shortening. I don't know how I'm even aware of it. And I started to crave social media in times were I would just focus on for example, eating, cooking, working out, doing homework. I noticed this when I ate because my mindset is, when I eat I just eat but that sudden change came and I was like, "Okay we're are having an un-familiar problem. I might need a social media-detox." I believe if I implement everything in this video I might not only return to my usual self but infact improve myself. Thank you for the clear information. This is clearer than those videos on saying, "How to actually do your work" "How to be more diciplined" "How to do whatever important task you've been procrastinating on and actually finish it."

Here is a summary of the key points from the video: - Dopamine is the "molecule of more" that drives us to seek rewards and stimulation. But overstimulation can desensitize us to dopamine's effects. - To resensitize ourselves to dopamine, we should take boring breaks, inhabit the in-between moments without stimulation, and focus on one thing at a time. This boosts impulse control and makes tasks more rewarding. - Take breaks that are more boring than your work. Go for a walk, stare at a wall, etc. Don't distract yourself with your phone. - Inhabit the in-between moments by just being present instead of constantly seeking stimulation. - Do one thing at a time with full focus. This strengthens your ability to shift into an attentive state and makes tasks more engaging. - Mastering your dopamine system this way can make the boring rewarding. You can achieve flow states more easily and turn work into play. In summary, we should avoid overstimulation, take boring breaks, focus singularly, and resensitize ourselves to dopamine in order to boost productivity, focus, and flow.

By far the best video I've watched regarding this polarizing topic. I finally have enough knowledge to liberate myself from this mind-numbing routine. Isn't it interesting how we can feel so empowered to change our habits, yet we impulsively return to the same linear activities over and over again? Get off the internet more and take control of your subconscious through conscious action. The decisions may prove difficult, but are necessary in the long term for fostering a satisfying life. Otherwise, misery will continue to spiral. If anyone's reading this, please go for a walk or do anything better than mindless consumption of content you've already watched. I myself have done this for far too long. Enough is enough.

The constant camera shots and text and snippets of videos (someone snowboarding, ice, stacks of paper, scrolling an inbox, changing the camera view, text on the screen...etc) make it very difficult to actually concentrate on what youre saying. For smeone who appreciates slowing life down and meditating and appreciating the smaller things, your videos - changing whats on screen every 5 seconds, would communicate the opposite. Is this because you think that we're so distracted these days that you have to constantly illustrate every new idea or else we will be bored?

Its like a middle class guy was struck by poverty got rich overnight so wouldn't be able to handle success that well and make dumb mistakes. Although this is just what I thought but its very possible.

I've been working on myself for the last 6 months after reaching my lowest point in life. Right now, I'm working on being able to trust myself to work efficiently but I've been struggling maintaining my momentum. I used to be in the zone before but my methods weren't sustainable. Being in the flow state addressed that. It's efficient and sustainable. It doesn't shut off the emotions. And also answered my questions about taking a proper break (recovery vs relaxation). I'm grateful for all these lessons, Rian! You're living your purpose.

Ive been doing this without realizing. I literally get withdrawals for the gym like when i used to smoke cigs, weed or masturbate. Once i removed all of them, i began to get dopamine from writing, the gym and learning. I will literally practice jump roping for hour's for fun, hit the gym and wanna stay even when I'm done. All while working 40-50 hours a week. If I want some other form of entertainment I always read everyday. Tl;dr: just remove all sources of dopamine such as drugs, cigs, pornography, reduce screen time and replace the addictions with good things 😊

@@nesconcen3427 I replaced it all with fun productive activies. Such as keeping a diary, actively going on hiking trails to get fresh air and stay active, reading and gradually decreased the things I did overtime. Doing it all at once is rough so I just lessened it over and over until finally instead of dreading doing these things, it became something I NEED and WANT to do. It doesn't seem fun at first. That's why you need willpower. Tell yourself you're changing. Create an image of you in six months to a year, how you look, talk, what you know etc. I want to be fit, decent at boxing. Able to speak my native language more fluently and read and write it. Run for 6 miles straight, etc. The list goes on. Add to it as you go, and that mental image will keep you going.

The gospel, or the Good News, is the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. It tells us that all humans are sinners and separated from God because of our sinful nature. However, God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. .. . Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life, yet He willingly took the punishment for our sins upon Himself. He died on the cross, paying the price for our wrongdoing, and three days later, He rose from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death.. . .,Through faith in Jesus and His sacrifice, we can receive forgiveness of sins and be reconciled to God. Salvation is a free gift that cannot be earned through our own efforts or good works. It is by God's grace alone that we are saved. ,. To receive this gift of salvation, we must repent of our sins, turn to God, and place our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We can have assurance of eternal life and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. , Romans 6:23 states that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.. When you embrace Islam, focusing on its true essence as outlined in the Quran and Hadith, you will discover a path of discipline. This discipline is not about harshness, but about understanding that the material world can be a distraction from spiritual growth. Commitment in Islam involves practices like early morning prayers before sunrise, which require dedication. Additionally, fasting during Ramadan teaches self-control, as it involves abstaining from food and water for extended periods. Islam also guides followers in refining their conduct, finding deeper meaning in life, and focusing on constructive activities, moving away from distractions like excessive media consumption. For me, adopting the principles of Islam has brought vibrancy and purpose to my life, once marked by monotony and depression. It's a journey of gratitude towards Allah, the creator of everything.

@yonatan6379 Taking a single week off from my program doesn't mean I become a potato and do nothing. I still do other things to stay active, just give my body some time to recover from the usual stress I put it under. Not to mention, any gym bro knows how hard it is NOT to go to the gym, but it's part of trusting the process which actually involves more discipline if you ask me.
