How to repressurise or fill a combi boiler or sealed central heating system

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video is useful if you have a sealed central heating system/combination boiler. Often the boiler will not work unless there is enough pressure in the boiler, this video shows you how to repressurise or fill up the system. Brought to you by www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/

Oh my god, i am a chef in a really busy kitchen and when i asked my Landlord to fix my broiler, no hot water or heating system, he said he could only help in 3 DAYS! he was supposed to come to my flat today and fix it but NOPE. watched your video, got myself together and fixed the problem! You saved my day! Never been glad to have a proper shower ( with no buckets) ahaha. Thank You.

I've used this footage twice now to reassure myself before doing it, and while I have repressurised a boiler before, I referred to this and felt totally at ease sorting my boiler.

Thank you very much, for the best video on re-pressurising a combi boiler! Saved my life on this seriously cold January late evening. My totally neglectful landlord (Matt Bennett) left no instructions or guidance on this task and left the filling loop attached also. I'll keep my eye on that pressure for now (can contact Private Housing Sector IF needs be). Originally had to provide my own fire alarms, and after 22 years tenancy, finally he provided them, but this morning, billowing smoke from burnt porridge (while trying to figure why no hot water, no water pressure), that new fire alarm didn't operate (my old FireAngel would have, so looks like I have to replace this new one with a premium one myself)! I'm afraid I would have been left to freeze if it hadn't have been for your video! What a day, but all's well that ends well. Thanks again.

Thank you! Came home last night to a freezing cold flat and no hot water- I figured it was because the pressure had suddenly dropped, so a combination of this video and a call to my uncle (who sounds a lot like you!) sorted it all out- thanks for taking the time to upload such a useful video!

Thanks a lot for this video! I noticed that there was no pressure in the radiators when I bled them and knew that I need to re pressurize the system but had no clue how. Great video..we have just had a new combi boiler fitted and after watching your video, I contacted British Gas who fitted it to inform them that they had left the pressure loop in place..I have been informed that there is no longer any requirement to remove the loop and that it can stay in place..thought some of your viewers may like to know that once again, there has been a change in the regulations.

Many many thanks for great video. Our boiler failed to come on this morning and the pressure gauge was showing zero after we'd bled it yesterday evening. We couldn't face potentially several days in the cold before an engineer could come out so we thought we'll have a go ourselves. Your video was the only one to advise about the disconnected pipe which we'd noticed dangling so we connected it and eventually found the valve to turn the water on (with a pair of pliers as somewhere along the line an engineer had removed the original knob). The boiler fired up after waiting a few seconds for the water to circulate and we breathed a sigh of relief now that the house is warm again. And yes, we did remember to disconnect the pipe afterwards. Many many thanks again.

Im going to bend the existing pipe donwards and fit an isolation valve compression fit, then run pipe under floor. I will drain system. I have lousy water pressure, when refilling the system do I turn the boiler on? Or do I wait until refilled to 1bar, then keep on filling as it drops?

I got a wood gasifier it is recomened that it has 1.5 bars but when i heat up the system at the peak it climbs to 3,5 pressure can something happen to my radiators or pipes? it has a valve when it climbs over 3,5 bars it starts to leak water out of it slowly. so am i safe? or something bad can happen if i burn the boiler too hot.

Hi, thanks for posting this video. Clear and easy to understand :) My boiler is still not working correctly however...My combi boiler is now and 1 bar and the radiators have been bled and yet I have no hot water or heating. There is a red LED which flashes (and no ignition or flame) when I try to turn the heating on. For the past week actually we've only had hot water if I've turned the heating on-any ideas please?? Thank you very much!

hi m8..i've got a halstead ace combi boiler..and it leaks from the over flow pipe which is outside...so it keeps losing pressure and goes down to zero...the guy that fitted it left the filling loop on so i just keep topping it up...how can i stop it losing pressure...any ideas...thanks

Do you have to turn boiler off before adding pressure using the filling loop? My boiler is a isar he30, the pressure valve is just below the 1 bar.

Thanks for the ultimate rapid reply. One last question, on my boiler it doesn't have taps to turn the valve but it looks like you need to use a flat-head screw driver to turn the valve on and off. Does this sound correct?

What state are my rads in while doing this or dord it matter? Baxi boiler with pressure below 1bar, after 1 rad lost heat when turned others on.

thanks for useful video... by the way, is there any practical danger repressurising the system when it's still hot? (apart from pressure value bias)

Hello, I would really appreciate some advice please. I have an ideal classic gas boiler rs30. I am still getting hot water no problem but my central heating has gone off. I have bleed the radiators which were fine, no air. I have shut the boiler down and then back on and still no heating. I can not see a pressure valve anywere to check the pressure, to be honest I cant really afford to get some one out so would realllllllly appreciate ay tips on getting it going. Thank you

In my manual it says I need to take the cover off after filling and bleeding, and open the automatic air purger one full turn, then open the pump shaft to release air from that, then close all up (this is after the system has been drained). The thing is the auto purger doesn't rotate, it goes up and down and was in the up position. Should this be down? The pump didn't have any air in, water came out when I opened. The system isn't loosing pressure any more so maybe if it ain't broke....?? Thanks
