How to Repot A Mini Phalaenopsis

Although this Mini Phal doesn't really need repotting, I need to check what exactly is 'in the pot'. I have 8 of these and need to establish if I should get on with the repotting or can they wait a while.
As always, thanks for watching.

I have just repotted one of my mini phals. The plug was coursing it to move in the pot. Glad to see I did it right. Now onto the other three, they are all producing new roots and leaves. Good to see you more relaxed, we all have to go with the flow.

The rescue Phalaenopsis which was at the very start of the hobby for me was in moss back then, 7 years ago. It has evolved from a compact little plant inro a monster weighing over one and a half kilos with 12 leaves and at least 20 active root tips visible through the wall of the transparent pot, not counting those on the mesh of aerial roots everywhere. Thanks, Roger, for the nice repot. Those repots should be celebrated as long as Phals don't show their true self 🙂

I totally agree with the dry bark repotting. I learned that from you.

I repotted all my Phals without bud blast, it could be a fluke but if the buds are big enough I think you can repot with buds without losing anything (works with the store bought ones, don't know how species or primary hybrids would react)

You haven't said anything yet, but that sound of rocks hitting the pan.( the bark) tells me the bark is probably good.

I hate those nasty little plugs. When i get an orchid with one, i repot. I usually give the orchid a few weeks to get used to my environment. To me, these plugs must go. ASAP.

So 🤔, do you wait a few weeks then repot? Or repot as soon as you get it home?

These spongy things don't seem as bad as the compacted moss.

I just repoted my 2 new mini phalaenopsis with small bark and a little perlite. They had the plug in them. The blooms are pretty much gone. The spikes are still green. Wait or cut them off?

If they are new plants and this is their 1st blooming, I would take the spikes off - give the plant a rest from blooming, get some new leaves and roots and some fresh spikes down the line.
