Cool video. Love the explanation of how it's made and works. Will part 2 be coming soon? I'm guessing load stabilizer bars (also called ratcheting cargo bars) would work great to hold up the panels as the glue cures. Have a good one!

Thank you for sharing this!! So the styrofoam in my ceiling has bad water damage and needs to be replaced too. With how soft the ceiling is pretty much throughout, I’m under the impression I’ll need to replace all the styrofoam and paneling. Any suggestions? I’d be glad to email you photos if you’re open to it!

Cool video. I'm looking to raise my le sharo roof. I was looking to your video to see the structure of the roof/wall to be able to plan a little before tearing my le sharo down. Any comment/idea/suggestion regarding my project ?

I haven't removed a a roof on a le Sharo in particular but almost all roofs are put together in a similar fashion assembled and glued to gather on a table jig then hoisted up and screwed down from the top side and covered with a roof skin, epdm rubber, vinyl, or in this case aluminum. you have to remove that layer first then there should be screws around the perimeter holding it to the top of the walls. the good thing about aluminum metal roof is that it can be reused the others are glued down and are destroyed in the removal process. DON'T glue the metal down when reinstalling you will have horrible problems just let it float. I don't think there are any screws inside with the exceptions of cabinets on the le sharo I will look today and double check if I am wrong I will get back to you. here is a link to a landau motorhome I did several years ago removing the whole roof. scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.18172-8/18359160_1549571768418840_6047951802021598782_o.jpg?_nc_cat=111&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=cdbe9c&_nc_ohc=r9vzqPk-gcsAX9QRUSQ&_nc_ht=scontent-sjc3-1.xx&oh=00_AT8GOFjp_ZPXCauC2YyLvG0lgl00-0fw3GwaynPHNUym1A&oe=62DA3218 its on my Facebook business page there are a couple pics. you will need to build a support system to then hoist the roof off so it doesn't buckle they aren't that tough to stand the weight on their own. although the Le sharo is pretty small and 4-5 guys could probably just lift off and support it. the one I took off was 36 feet long. and i did it with one other guy. if you have a good knowledge of how to fix things structurally I would say get after it. is it a project for someone like my wife NO! even though I would say it is simple, its just lots of labor. I just finished installing the ceiling panels from the inside which I will be posting in about a week. sorry about the book let me know about any questions you have would be happy to help.

Didnt know you can order panels for rvs, my parents 99 fleetwood prowler has saging ceiling panel in the living room from water that got in somewhere from the roof, its not too bad but had to drill half inch hole to let the water out of it or would had been much worse then it is, eventually going to get new tpo roof put on it but I guess you can get certain similar panels at home depot that will work but the mat paper not sure how that would work? but how would I go about getting panels for the rv? I know that fleetwood trailers are made in oregon which is where this came from originaly, what is your advice to contact fleetwood see if they have panels to fit this 99 prowler or just try to buy the materials & build one to fit? I noticed back bedroom also had gotten little water damage to corner wall area where night stand is bout almost foot in height the panel is week on bottom & wall paper is just bit wrinkled so its not anything too severe but I am sure I will find some damaged roofing deck once the rubber membrane is removed especially in front right corner of rv where water got in the size of a basketball that ultimately caused the ceiling semi bow down the rain actually filled the light bowl fixture in the livingroom crazy how this all happened..

Well I am originally from Lagrande or and Fleetwood went out of business. So there is no contacting them. But if you go to an rv dealer and find a new rv ceiling panel that matches closely to what you have and ask them to order the ceiling panels just tell them you have that type of trailer and they can order them if their not too lazy. But shipping is super high right now. A home depot panel will be hard to match up. Since you have to do the roof anyways and replace some sheeting. You do all of it from the top. Pull rubber, and bad sheeting then pull up rafters and rebuild rafters with ceiling panels stapled and glued. And set whole assembly down on top of the sidewalls and you can't tell you did a panel replacement. It really doesn't add any time to the project and is easier than putting panels up from the inside and having to mold all your seams.

@@thesetwohands6982 Yes thanks much for the advice, I will see what I am up against once I get the top decking off hopefully there is no major obsticles in the way that keeps me from getting to the ceiling panel, its not an eye sore way it is now has very slight bow to it but if I can get the similar matching panel I would try to remove old one, thanks much again I will be talking to my local rv supply store on the panels👍

well if you have a metal roof use elastomeric roof seal it will last the longest and is applied with a paint brush. if rubber use dicor sealant. if there is a hole on top and you have a metal roof clean thoroughly apply sealant on top and bottom of aluminum patch drill and rivet to the roof then seal over the top. just don't let water in or it becomes a long terrible repair.
