How to Replace VacuFlush Toilet System Duckbill Valves on a Boat

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If your boat VacuFlush head pump keeps running (and there's still water in the bowl) then you probably need to replace the duckbill valves by the pump. This is a bit of a nasty boat project, but not as bad if you follow our how-to where we replace the duckbill valves for our Sea Ray aft toilet system (common problem, parts and repair for on most boat brands!)

    @@eternitysshore good to hear! If the pump runs sporadically after it’s been flushed & gone through it’s cycle then it’s your duck valves.. if the bowl is not holding the water/vacuum then it’s the seal at the bowl. Usually one or the other!

    Capt. I have a 2018 Boston Whaler 270 Vantage. No voltage info available for the VacuFlush like on the boat in this video. When I turn on my pump it makes a really loud screeching noise as it primes. Once it's primed, it's fine. Then when you flush it does it again. Any idea what this could be & if there is an easy fix??? Like sending oil down the toilet LOL??? Glenn

  • @MyBoatLife

    @MyBoatLife

    11 ай бұрын

    Hi Glenn, So when you flush, a motor moves an arm up and down to make the bellows plunge up and down (this is all on the pump in the bilge). I can only imagine that screeching would be coming from the motor or the arm. I found some screws loose where the motor attaches to the arm and that was making some noise, I tightened them and it quieted down. Maybe yours are too tight? Take the white cover off and watch it pump, maybe you will see/hear what’s wrong.

  • @MyBoatLife

    Hmm not sure may be best to try both… or a plunger? Btw if you plunge it’s safe to plunge down but not up - slide sideways to break the seal of plunger. Plunging up will suck duck bull valves backwards! 😣

I think we need to replace duck bills, bellow and gasket, I cannot find any part numbers online or even the model of vac u flush in my manual. Am I over complicating it? Never ever stops? Or stops and then starts again later? If it never stops, it could be a bad vacuum switch on the pump. If it stops and starts there’s a slow leak somewhere else like the seal on the shaft where the foot pedal goes into the base of the toilet. You should be able to hear a hiss if it’s that seal. Hope that helps!

    There are a lot of advantages of the vacuum- it takes it away quickly & keeps fumes from coming back to the toilet. We’ve had boats without vacuflush and let’s just say it wasn’t always pleasant. Maintenance is not really that big of a deal to change the duckbill valves - only had to do it once per pump on our boat in last 10 years.
