You didn't replace the magnet seal (a little o ring). From what I read, this cover will leak no matter what you do, some people change to an aluminum cover instead of the factory plastic one, but I'm not sure if the aluminum would work better. I'm going to do this job soon because I have this cover leaking even though it's only 30k miles. I'm planning to replace the plastic cover with an aluminum one and all the seals with OEM ones, I hope it works 🤞

I have this issue in my VW Tiguan, is that also the cause of the burning oil smell?

The cause of oil burning is cuz the engine is tilted so when it leaks it goes on to the exhaust in the back and on to the belts and pulleys on the side.

You forgot to put little bit of silicon on 2 sides of the edges - there are seeks that require gasket maker - otherwise shit will leak.

What edges do you speak of? I've replaced my gasket 4 times in 200k miles. I do it the more expensive and hard way everytime. I replace the magnet gaskets too. Also upgraded to the aluminum upper cover. Please tell me your secret. Ill be going back to the cover again soon for the timing chain. Going to use mopar rtv for the lower cover and oil tank soon too. Project farm did a comparison on a bunch of different rtv mopar won...

@@Messy_Jesse The repair manual says to use silicone on where there are 2 different pieces connecting - there is small chance you can get away without silicone - but this is what manual says.

where the 2 side upper bolts are located on the plastic cover put 2 blobs of silicone around the bolt holes before bolting the cover thats the manual recommendation. if the cover is warped or very old replace it too@@dannyj7618
