New Turbocharger with Exhaust Manifold from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ib/1AESC00021
This video shows you how to install a turbocharger, exhaust manifold, and gaskets on your 2011-2015 Chevrolet Cruze. There are lots of things going on inside your vehicle’s turbocharger in order to give it that extra boost. Hot exhaust gasses, high spinning fan blades, and pressure. Turbos are precision machines, and can fail if not maintained well.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2011 Chevrolet Cruze
2012 Chevrolet Cruze
2013 Chevrolet Cruze
2014 Chevrolet Cruze
2015 Chevrolet Cruze

I would've used new tubes all around. I'd also recommend getting the oil cooler replaced since the turbo is off. Those are also known to leak because the gaskets in them go bad as well.

Which turbo do you recommend for this vehicle? Oem part is expensive, dealer wanted $2300 for the repair with new feed pipe and return pipe.

I just done a 2015 Chevy trax, the ac is totally in the way of the coolant line that required a 17 MM socket. The only way to get that 17mm was with a open end wrench. ....what a major pain.

My old turbo has 3 thin manifold gaskets but new turbo kit comes with one. I think this video shows the same. Why were there 3 originally and is just the one sufficient?

Hello, I just finished this job over the weekend and I think it went well...no leaks. However, after my initial test drive, I brought it back to my garage and parked it for a second (shutting it off) before putting it back up on my ramps to check for leaks and such. When I got the ramps in place and started the car to drive up on them, the check engine light came back on. So I was wondering, after replacing the exhaust manifold and turbo on 2014 chevrolet cruze, does it need to be recalibrated or should I just give it a few drives to see if the computer makes any changes? By the way, the original turbo was certainly the problem, it had a large crack in the waste gate side and the propeller did not move very freely.

Do you have to drain the coolant before beginning this job? Or just try and catch it...?

Does anyone know what turbo is best for this car? Should I just go with original GM?

100 years of building cars and still can't get it right, this car is the biggest pos ive ever seen. And then they have the gall to announce they're gonna build electric vehicles. I don't know how GM isn't embarrassed.

You have ZERO knowledge of cars then. Because the Cruze is NOT even close to being the biggest pos ever. VW and Chrysler have that down pat...my Cruze runs phenomenal, 205k on the clock and it leaks oil but runs like a dream. I've owned and fixed and sold all kinds of different cars and brands. VWs are the biggest piles of trash ever made. But remember this, EVERY car had issues. Every car has its own problems...to call a car a POS because of leaks is ridiculous. Any factory turbo car will leak. It's part of how it is. Even Bugatti Veyrons leak.

Thanks for this great video. Did you happen to notice that the bracket shown at 13:28 later, simply disappeared without any mention? Did you also notice that some of those clean, new manifold nuts seen at 15:15 suddenly became old and dirty at 15:44 for some reason? That bracket seen at 13:28 never did get put back in the car. Why. When I was young I was always told to start and even hand tighten every fastener on an object BEFORE torqueing any of them so that the attached part doesn't have to be shoved into place under the final bolt, storing lots of damaging stress. Doing so is exactly what causes cracked welds and subsequent leaks. like the oil lines and the way the guy pried the CAT over so he could connect it to the turbo. This can very easily result in a cracked weld, exhaust leak and P0420 code down the road. He should've loosened the CAT mounting brackets a little first then retightened them last. That's what you would definitely want to do for your own property or any equipment that has to be reliable.
