Great guide, thanks! One point, I had to manually uninstall the wi-fi drivers and then click "Scan for New Hardware" before the replacement card would connect again.

@@TVakula Hi, yes I have been using the laptop for a few weeks now and the WiFi has worked with no problems. Don't forget that your replacement WiFi card may be faulty. I would test next to your router and see if you still have problems. Andy

Hey man, congrats and thanks for the video. I have replaced the wi-fi card on my Asus X555U laptop, installing an Intel Dual Band AC 3160. I suppose it is compatible, and right after booting for the first time it's possible to find the new card in the device manager, and it seems to be working fine, but actually it is not finding any wi-fi network. It shows "No WiFi networks found". Any tips on this? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your video! Definitely helped locate and choose the correct chip. I have a question you might be able to answer for me. Do you know what size the cover screws are? F555UJ. and where I might find torx instead to replace the originals. I have striped a few screws heads trying to remove them as they were extremely hard to remove them. There are many kits online for random laptops m2,3,4,5, m2.5,3.5,4.5,5.5 etc. with different lengths. If you know awesome, if not great deal. Thanks all the same.

I no longer have this laptop, so can't check for you. It will usually say what size they are next to the screw hole eg. M5x4, M5 being the thread size and 4 being the length in mm. Hope this helps, thanks for watching.

I wonder if an adapter and an ax200 card would work here...

Followed these instructions and now the computer connects to our GHz wifi. FYI, if your laptop came with a filler instead of an optical drive, that "door" doesn't come off.

I've had a look around, but can't see any part numbers for wifi 6 pcie mini cards, they may go down the path of M.2 wifi? But rest assure, your dual band wifi card will still be compatible with a wifi 6 router.

No, I've upgraded many 2.4ghz wifi laptops to dual band with no problems.

Yes, they are an m.2 wifi & Bluetooth adaptor. As long as your motherboard supports m.2 wifi, it should be plug and play. I always recommend getting the official drivers from Intel's website for best performance and reliability.

What kind of wifi card did you put in? Can you put a link in the description? I'm trying to find one online

@@MadAboutTutorials A number of PC manufacturers have their BIOS reject all but their own brand of wifi cards (even if the chipset is compatible and the RTL number is correct); apparently ASUS is one of the few manufacturers who don't do this. I didn't risk it and bought used from the same model. And to my joy, no new driver was necessary.

I haven't ever experience a hardware lockout, I've upgraded Asus, Acer, Toshiba, Samsung, and Dell laptop wifi cards. It may be particular models of certain laptops that lock network cards to a mac address, I'm sure a firmware update could circumvent that.

What happens if i remove my wifi card and use wifi dongle instead will it work? Can i still connect to a wireless internet?

Bluetooth chip is also the wifi chip. First try opening the laptop to check the model of the wifi card and downloading the latest drivers for it.
