Great video. It helped me greatly. I however did not have to take the mower deck off.
I changed the drive belts on my Troy Bilt pony following your tutorial & everything went good …I cut my property & stored it in my shed ,happy that all went well !! I started up the pony a few days later to install the grass catcher I had on it before I replaced the belts….. well I lost track of time & had to be somewhere so I figured I’d attach the grass catcher at another day ….I started the pony up to put back in shed….& to my surprise the pony would not go forward or reverse…checked everything & all seems fine …what do you think is wrong !!!! Could use your guidance, for on scratching my head …as to what could be the problem…..thank you for taking the time to assist me on this confusing situation!!!! Ed Santiago,N.Carolina….six year old pony Troy-Bilt
Where does the other end of the idler spring go?
Thanks for you videos ~ IT REALLY HELPS ~ My turn to help you! Take the hook on the engagement spring, bend it to the side a little! before insulation. This will help taking off and on! This make it a breeze to take the engagement cable off and on, the idlers arm.
Hey mark I'm an apprentice small engines mechanic and love watching your videos keep up the good work!!! And could you make a toolbox video of your tools and feed back on them? Cheers
I Love and I need what sizes Deck balt size whet how long is the Deck belt PLEASE
hi mark do you have a video removing an replacing the complete trans axle thx
On the troy bilt pony I noticed the belt is rubbing up against the deck adjuster rod. The idler spring is connected correctly but I was wondering if the idler pulley must be adjusted?
How do you adjust the idler tension? I replaced the drive belt now I need to adjust the clutch, because it seems to stay engaged and creeps first then goes faster.
Why would you remove all that hardware just to replace the idler pulley a bit over kill. There was no use in removing the drive belt unless you where going to replace it You can access the pulley without removing the deck and without removing the transmission pulley.
Hi. Another great video to help teaching how to dismantle parts to work on it. But can you explain when this step would be necessary. Thanks

Excellent video. Thanks
*Does the idler Pulley have TWO SPRINGS attached to it?? Because mine is AWFUL CLOSE to the PTO engagement arm on the right..?I have one spring pulling it towards the right.. 🤔*
My riding mower seems to go forward even in Neutral, then when shifted to Forward, it may or may not go. Putting gear in forward again, it will go forward.... what do you think. Also is there a place to adjust the drive belt?
is the pulley beside the PTO cable on a swivel ? can it be pushed forwrd?reason being I dont have enough room to fir the pto spring where it needs to go,,Please help
buenisimo pero co se puede conseguir en español
Can anyone help i live in ft myers Florida
If my mower was this clean underneath. I wouldn't be changing this belt!...... I know this is for instructional purposes only.
You left out one major important part of routing the belt. How to route it through the two pulleys for tightening the belt when you push down on the pedal. As a matter of fact you totally left that out.
