Thanks for the video. Everything I needed to know and see to get this done on our 2007 Saturn Outlook. I replaced the entire thermostat housing since it did not cost much more to buy a whole new factory-identical AC Delco unit with gasket and bolts. Only issue I had was getting a torque wrench on the lowest 10mm housing bolt, but I winged it and figure it should be fine as those three mounting bolts are inch pounds, not foot pounds. Anyways, appreciate this very much. Saved me $600.

I’d like to point out that the floor mat over the battery cover did NOT start off the video with a greasy footprint 😂

💯💯QUICK NOTE EVERYONE, REPLACE THE WHOLE THING , THE AFTERMARKET THERMASTATS BY THEMSELVES IS MISSING A RUBBER RING LIKE THE ORIGINAL HAS, I REPLACED 3 TIMES B4 THEY CAME OUT WITH THE WHOLE HOUSING UNIT WITH IT ATACHED, CAR WOULD ALWAYS RUN A LIL OVER HALF WAY MARK UNTILL I FIGURED IT OUT.......... MELTED HOSE CONECTORS IN PROCESS

You don't need to drain the radiator like that. Just go get a long hose and a 5 gallon bucket, and siphon all the water out the radiator fill tube. Then start up your Acadia and let it run for about 3-5 seconds(with the engine completely cold and then siphon again. you will have little to no fluid spilling from the thermostat housing

Okay, this and replacing the 2 hoses how much? I was charged 1500

There was no/zero need to disconnect the battery for this at all. Save yourself some time, and skip that step.

No mention of tools used or even bolt sizes. This guide is seriously lacking

The jiggle pin stays at 12 position even after being installed all the way?

Just wish you said tools require then add Wrench sizes

That's about right...local dealer in CA wanted the same for parts + labor.

Appreciate the video but you can't tell us one size bolt but you can tell us the pressure of how much torque to put back in bolts that's crazy man

So I went to oriellys they said I needed the whole housing. That you couldn't just change the thermostat

Agree with the others who have replied to you. I am replacing my second thermostat on my 2011 Acadia (300kmes). Unless it is damaged there’s no reason to replace the housing assembly. I got mine from ADVANCED AUTO.

What the hell was the special tool you used to remove the thermostat from the housing and how could you just brush past that step?

@@8701Alexcamilo so, I did the job the next day and, (for anyone interested) most of the aftermarket thermostats come with a little heavy duty toilet paper roll-type cardboard, which is the tools used to remove the thermostat. It's is basically any item used to depress the spring on both sides .

You show step by step but skip over how and what you do to actually remove the thermostat

There's a cardboard cylinder that comes with the new thermostat, it is the tool to remove and install the thermostat to the housing
