Your video was extremely helpful. My brother in law just called, stranded on the highway about an hour away with a broken belt. He has no tools and little in the way of mechanical experience. I was able to order a new belt and actually have it delivered to his location (amazing!) and when I got there, the belt had already arrived. I inspected the idlers as you recommended and found one to be frozen, likely the cause of the broken belt. So we ordered a new idler from the same outfit and they had it in stock and delivered it once again. It took about 40 minutes for the part to arrive but five minutes later, they were back on the road. Thanks to your helpful video for saving me time by knowing what to do, what tools would be required, recommending replacement from below, and recommending checking the idlers. This certainly saved them a subsequent break down, as the new belt would have not lasted long with a frozen idler. Much appreciated!

Amazing video. My 05 Tacoma started making a random ticking noises and this solved it. If you hear a random tick in an 05 tacoma, I highly recommend replacing the belt. My belt had obvious problems in some places and clearly had some wear. My tacoma didnt have the option to "lock" the tensioner so my fathers help was needed to remove the belt and on the finishing part to slide the belt back on.

Sometimes the ticking comes from the driver side and its the high pressure fuel injection. Look it up cause I think a small or slight tick is normal for this gen.

Watched this video again last weekend, install of new belt was successful. The only thing I suggest to anyone is wipe off the gunk on the radiator fan shaft first, although I wore goggles a lot of debris fell on me. Thanks for posting ur video, very helpful👍🏼. By the way I replaced the original belt on my 2006 Taco at 219,000 miles. I don’t suggest you wait that long.😂
