What did you do for the transmission? How did you refill the oil?
@adairjanney71097 ай бұрын
how hard would it be to instead go to a different engine all together like an inline 6 there are some small ones that would fit but would you need awhole new transmission? I hasve the 1.6L 6 speed as well
@adairjanney7109Ай бұрын
I have the 1.6 and it has 250,000 miles on it, should i preactivley change the head gasket, heard its hard but I cant see it being that damn hard its a gasket, so long as I have the tools and the internet should be easy youd think

Wondering if it would be possible to use an engine support bar to support the transmission from above so that the car is rollable while the engine is out. Bacically I don't have an engine hoist nor the ceiling height to use one, but I have a gantry crane that I could put just outside the garage door. Thinking I could roll the car outside, pull the engine, then roll it back inside. Do you think that's possible??

Absolutely. Those engine supports can come in quite handy. I usually take everything out but there are times I don't and an engine support would work great. Thanks for the feexback.

I have to R&R the engine on a 2014 next week. It has a automatic trans. Do you have to pull the motor and trans as a whole? Can the engine come out and leave the trans and axles in?
@s33therfan

You probably could. It usually seems to take the same amount of time . I think the real time savings comes in to play once they are both out. The separating and putting them back together. Thanks for the feedback.

How long did it take, 2 days or 5 days (not considering time for waiting for the another engine)?

Yes . That is when everything goes well . These Kia are pretty easy to work on , compared to other cars. Thanks for the feedback

Could you leave the A/C lines hooked up and instead remove the compressor from engine and hang it off to the side, to avoid opening system? Or did you need them out of the way to pull engine

Absolutely , I do this anytime the system is charged. Thank you for the feedback.

Hi where did you buy your engine? I have a 1.6 2015 Kia Soul. I think l need one cause my f-ing friend ran my vehicle hot and now it's not starting.

I ordered mine from Lkq on ebay , so far the engine is running terrific. If you decide to go this route , one piece of advice I can give is to inspect the engine thoroughly upon delivery. Only issue I have ran into was a cracked block due to shipping damage or prior damage from the wrecked donor. Thank you for the feedback.

How much something like this cost

The used 1.6l gdi will cost around 2500 used and most places charge around 800 give or take for the install. Another option is getting a reman , with price of the used I think it would be a good option. Thanks for the feedback.

My local kia dealer quoted me $8k for “longblock assembly along with service kits and one time use components” does this sound right? If I went elsewhere could I get the it done for less or attempt the job myself?
