Had to leave the bottom bolt out to make it easier to line up the tensioner set up

Will the steering wheel light with the exclamation make appear also , that's what happen to me I was parking and the wheel got hard to turn AAA said it was the alternator because once she remove the jumper box the power went

I am doing mine today can I also just replace the serpentine belt at the same time or is that not okay? never changed it lasted 240K miles so did the altenator until a few days ago oh and the ignition coild and spark plugs hahaha prob should start doing maint. BTW excellent presentation on how you did this, very detailed and excellent Well I did the alternator with no problems except I couldnt for the life of me get the new belt on, neither could my neighbor we put the old one back on and it was kind of hard to get on there too but not nearly so muchj any advice?

I would loosen the tensioner and loosen the alternator. Shove the tensioner all the way and it should go no problem. Compare your belt first and make sure they gave you the correct belt. It will be just slightly smaller due to being new but not much. Let me know how it goes.

I have heard the information center on the cluster being problems. I would recommend either a replacement cluster , programmed to plug n play, or send it off to a repair service. Maybe a local computer repair shop could easily fix one of these . Hope you can get this resolved easily. I appreciate your feedback as always.

Thank god my step dad is a mechanic i got a brand new one for 140 the part store wanted 344 and 58 dollar charge if you dont bring in your old one. I got mine off just waiting for the new alternator but i have a question where is the tensioner? Is it that first bolt you marked?

Yes , the bolt and block. It gives you a reference when tightening it back. Having said that it may require adjustment when using a new belt etc. so as not to overtighten. One method I use is twisting the belt , if I can get a 45 degree twist , then I know it's fine. Thanks for the question.
