    You have created two excellent videos for replacing the brake pads and rotors on the Honda CRV. I am so impressed with the step by step details, your clarity of speech and video. Honestly, thank you for sharing your knowledge with those of us who aren’t afraid of working on our own vehicles. I have subscribed.

    So you didn’t need any scan tool as long as you used the correct tool to compress the piston rotating clockwise?

    One thing to add is to make sure that you check and loosen the master cylinder cap. If there was no brake fluid added throughout the whole lifespan of the brake pads and rotors; then it's ok. However, when customers take their cars to the shop or dealership, the technicians usually add brake fluid. So when you pump your brake pedal after resetting the caliper piston, it will cause the fluid to go back to the master cylinder. If it's already at max level to begin with, you will have a leak.

    What a very well done video. One of the best I've seen on brakes, super clear and concise. Thanks man! I have the same piston compression kit and its a lifesaver. For some reason online a bunch of people made it seem like the rear brakes are extremely difficult to do with the electronic e-brake. After watching your video it seems like a fairly standard Honda brake job.

    I did the front brakes on Honda CRV , I Was not able to take out the screw on the rotor and I striped the Head of the screw . I decided to replace only the brake pads. The rotor looks ok. I used an impact screw driver that was hard to set it up. Is there a way to extract the stripped screw from the rotor when I need to change the rotor and the pads in the future ? I watched your video to replace the rear brake pads. I was not able to unplug the wiring from the motor. I rented the tool you used to push back the piston but after watching your previous video and your warning not to push the piston without retracting the motor I am afraid to do it with the tool. I like all your videos. the explanation and procedures are excellent. Thank you.

    @sameshete7936 Just drill the head of the screw completely off using a spiral drill bit. You don't need to use the screw anyway, it is only there to hold the rotor in place during assembly. You can just spin on a lug nut to hold the rotor in place if need be while you are working on it. The impact screwdriver is perfect to take the screws off. Just insure you use the proper bit and the others should come off no problem. The proper bit is a JIS #3. People think it's a phillips, but it's not and that is why so many people strip the screw.

  • @steve8803
    @steve88039 ай бұрын

    JIS #3 is the correct bit for the rotor screws. It's very similar to a phillips, but a lot less chance of stripping when using the correct bit. And the lug nuts should be torqued to 80 ft. lbs. Not 105.

    Japanese Industrial Standard. I did not know this ahead of time and used a #3 Phillips and subsequently had to drill out the stripped ALUMINUM screw. Aluminum, really?

    @@FuelednFurious My only tip, you will have to play around with the pressure while compressing. Sometimes, if you compress too hard, you won’t be able to twist the electronic brake back. Generally, light pressure is key.
