Outstanding video and instructions. My 2001 Tundra only has 212K and is perfect. I have never touched the read brakes. I am a little scared to work on these drum brakes. This video is a big help!

I'm getting ready to replace brake shoes now and I think this video is very helpful and actually, quite nicely detailed. The background porn music is interesting I guess, but who am I to judge? Overall - well done 2CarPros mechanics and you have made my money-saving job much easier. These DIY videos sure do help us to function in tasks and basic skills that heretofore were a rite of passage for your normal, average boy (and sometimes girls) as the knowledge was typically passed down from skilled fathers. But skilled fathers are oh-so-unnecessary in this new enlightened age it seems. But I digress. In an age of general incompetency due to the generations of keyboard and screen-centered people out-of-touch with real life, at least you are transmitting valuable information and maybe, just maybe all is not lost - yet. Time will surely tell. Keep 'em coming - God knows the kids need this.

Thanks, this was a really helpful video. One tip that might help others is to reduce the tension on the return spring by backing off the star wheel all of the way. It may seem obvious but I didn't do this at first and it was incredibly difficult to remove the spring.

A few additional issues I've encountered while replacing my 2006 Tundra rear brakes. Difficulty getting rear tire and wheel off the hub.I inserted a heavy duty screwdriver between wheel and hub and tap it with hammer. Rotate wheel and repeat until wheel pops off. Difficulty getting drum off if slightly rusted. You insert 2 - M8x 125 bolts in the threaded opposite holes on drums. Slowly tightening each one. Drum pops right off Big spring extremely difficult to remove. Off course I have arthritis in hands. So you need good arm strength. Before reassembly, use Syl-Glyde grease on all shoe contact points Finally, readjust e brake after drum is installed by pulling on lever in rear where e brake cable attaches. This adjusts the brake rachet wheel. You may have to do this several times

Is there a safe way to cut brake drum off. A spring broke inside and I stripped bolt holes to pull the drum off. I can't get the adjuster to free up even when I push the adjuster clip away from the adjuster. I rented a big puller from Auto Zone but the r backing plate is in the way. I don't want to catch the thing on fire. Any help would be appreciated

Making a video on adjusting the PARKING BREAK ON 04-06 TUNDRAS would be helpful. ALSO, how to get rid of Tundra's notorious spongy pedal would be awesome too.... my 06 has that issue with the brake pedal. But was fixed after I got it back from the shop, but now it's back.

If you buy a new hardware kit ,mostly springs be sure to buy only toyota parts. After market spring kits always get it wrong with shorter parts and wrong springs.
