This video should be in the number 1 spot for this search query.
As a veteran ASE heavy line tech. This technician is top shelf. Her confidence and technique make it look easy.
Thanks girl . Now I have to wife's in the morning.....Love it ! no stupid music *** Just get it done. No dumb talking. just get it done. You are great !
Great video as always young lady!! I've been a shade tree mechanic for over 50 years gettin to old n broke down to do a whole lot I can usually figure it out but I'm used to workin on old 60s 70s don't like all these sensors n stuff. But you help me tremendously you're step by step in definitely appreciate. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Great video. Some notes from my experience (04 Dakota): 1) You don't have to detach the upper shroud from the reservoir tanks, they can come out as one. 2) After detaching the electric fan from the radiator, you can just move it out of the way, leaving the electric harness attached... or detach the harness from above by removing the lower shroud first. My truck had a plastic "splash pan" underneath (attached with those ribbed, plastic push rivets that car mfg's love to use) that I didn't want to remove unless necessary, so coming in from above was easier. 3) The bottom screws on my AC condenser were damn near impossible to get to with the radiator in place. So I waited until after removing the radiator top support beam, that way I could lift the radiator up enough to more easily get to the bottom screws. 4) My model had a smaller "pre-radiator" in front of the AC condenser that had to be detached from the radiator with a couple of screws, as well. It also has piping that attaches to ports on the back passenger side of the radiator. One of the pipes is supported by a small plastic piece that is then screwed into the side of the radiator at the very bottom. I couldn't find a way to get to it with a wrench, so I just cut the plastic... hopefully that little extra support isn't really needed.

LOL Do you know what that is you are calling the. "Pre-radiator"? That is your transmission cooler. Now in the future you can call it by the correct name. Sorry but pre-radiator made me literally LOL
Most professional video I’ve found on this fix. Thank you for sharing and for not using profanity.
Thank you!!! The Haynes manual says nothing about removing the radiator support.
Thank you for making this how to video! My truck has an automatic transmission cooler attached to the front side of the radiator in front of the AC condenser. I ended up with removing the front bumper, which makes the job a lot easier.

@@SVMSICE What year is your Dakota? I have a 98 and I am going to put a radiator with a external cooler.
Great video, outstanding instructor and you got another sub!!!👍
Wonderful Tutorial , liked Video and Loved Her Confidence
Awesome video now i can replace mine, thank you for sharing you knowledge
Thank you for making this video!
Thank you for the video just swaped mine 👍
heres the issue i had. i have a 04 4.7 andi took radiator from 03 and it has 2 spots on side for line and 2 on the back of the radiator that are open threaded holes but my 04 where my lines add up would be for the side. i cant bend those hard lines of course so how do i plug up the 2 open spots on the back?
I enjoyed watching your video. What model Milwaukee cordless impact did you use? What would recommend for minimum torque rating? Thanks
Best video ever. So helpful
As MnDakota37 pointed out, what about the transmission cooling lines attached to the passenger side of radiator? Without those being disconnected there is no transmission removal.
What about transmission hoses never show desconect and conected back
My 2004 dakota 3.7 V6 doesn’t have the fan clutch /fan blade. Never had it since I’ve owned it 10 plus year and put over 100,000 miles on it. It does have the electric fan though that mounts to the radiator. Just went to replace the radiator and after putting the new Carquest radiator noticed there was no drain plug,l. $230 for a radiator and evidently I have to swap my old one into the new one. Not to mention I have to undo the radiator hoses and transmission lines again as well as those very hard to get too bolts that attach the condenser to the radiator.
Great video. Very clear. Thanks.
She didn't mention the transmission cooling lines attached to the radiator. And they are difficult to get to.
thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!! you saved me 3 days!
What about the transmission oil lines ?
Anyone know about any known electrical issues with the 00’ Dakota? fuel gauge quit working and all of a sudden heat gauge doesn’t work voltage gauge doesn’t work and the oil pressure gauge is stuck at half. Vehicle does not burn oil. Checked and on dipstick it’s still clean and full.
Awesome video.
Great Video!, But I guess this Truck had a Standard Trans, Looks like the Auto Tranny Cooler lines are on the passenger side
You failed to mention what to do with the coolant lines attached to the passenger side of the radiator.

Those lines are for transmission cooling on a Dakota with a trailering package. just disconnect them, plug them, and reinstall. Be gentle; the lines have steel fittings, and the openings on the radiator are aluminum; easy to strip.

It looks like her model here does not have a tranny cooler, but good comments and heads up from the commenters here
Everything great. Except. Those 2 bolts that weren't in the video for the ac condenser, are exactly the two bolts I'm struggling with.
I have the tow package, and the smaller condenser deal in the front made it more difficult to pull and install the new radiator. Should make a video of this, but on a dakota/durango with the tow package.

+MnDakota37 We're always cycling through common cars. We'll add this repair to our list! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Excellent video, excellent audio and clear, precise explanation. So, jumped into this and can say that detaching the lower shroud is almost impossible. The placement of the two 10mm screws presents a nightmare on a 2000 Dodge Dakota. I may have missed this but vehicles with auto transmissions have two additional lines, on the passenger side of the radiator, that need to be removed. One of those lines has a single 7mm screw attaching it to the side of the radiator. You will need a prayer to get to this and remove it. Finally, the quality of the Communist Chinese radiator replacement is not the quality of the original.
why am i have such a hard time getting the condenser nuts our where they had zipties
Not sure how much a 03 dakota 4x4 4.7 is from this video is, but missed a few steps, there's some lines and other bolts you forgot about on the passenger side :/

+Jonathan We appreciate the feedback. Sometimes there are multiple ways to accomplish the same repair. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
didnt show the transmission lines but I think I can figure that out thanks
This is not what a 97 Dakota V6 looks like. There is no electric fan, no bottles over the radiator, and the shroud is all one piece clear to the bottom. This procedure is not applicable to a 97 Dakota V6.
@MnDakota37

It's for the 4.7 v8
Great vid but I she didn’t show what size for the trans fluid hose😭
I think you forgot to add the hoses and lines that go on the radiator that it does not come with
You just dropped the radiator in and said fuck it
The reservoir comes out with two bolts and a couple clips. If you're taking it out anyways why would you take the bottom part of the shroud out first? This just makes sure that you cut your hands up trying to pull it out for no reason
You didn't show how to disconnect the transmission line.
But I lost all my 10mm sockets
I apprieciate a good video, but the camera view is "intentionally" moving in-and-out, which completely screws up the view! This is the videographer who needs to change.
yes!

What for? Why bother if your not working on anything electrical..... Plugging in and unplugging the radiators electric motor isn't "electrical work" either. So that's why.
why was everything so loose? because a female was doing it? shrug
The party where the zoo ties are.. that is where I am at right now. The bolts just spin. I see I have to pry it loose or drill it out. I guess zip tie it back as they did.
