    @@JunkyardJunkie n.p some people like to watch shows, movies, series etc I watch people work on cars. I work on all my own stuff myself but always learning new ways of doing things. One thing I could point out for others is that the sst part numbers isn't in the description. For those wondering sst crank tool #205-072, sst alignment tool #303-465 crank tdc bolt #303-507. Lisle alignment tool # 37410

    Hi! Did you apply engine oil to either the inside surface or outside surface of the seal before installing?

  • @JunkyardJunkie

    @JunkyardJunkie

    Yes just apply a light layer around the seal. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    You said to replace the transmission fluid. But wouldn't you be leaking engine oil instead of trans fluid correct? I have oil all over my engine bay all over the belt and on the inside of the hood, and it's engine oil, I'm wondering if I'm right or wrong? Thanks for that video it was very informative

    Ya I defiantly don’t recall saying transmission fluid. But yes it would be engine oil not transmission fluid. Sorry for the mistake if I said that. Glad I could help. Best of luck! Thanks for watching!

    I have a 1.6L (Z6) engine in my Madza3. Can you do this procedure with just the pin in the block and NOT the cam alignment tool on the cams (so skip the top end teardown)? My reasoning is that when you tighten the crank bolt back up, its going clockwise, and the pin should keep the crank in TDC under clockwise force right? Can you explain why holding the cams with that flat bar tool is also necessary? Thanks in advance!

    Hey, so yes I see where you are coming from and the logic makes sense. But, the one part that messes it up is taking the bolt out will move the crankshaft counter clockwise (no matter how fast you try to undo it). If you look at my timing chain video I actually show you the counter weight pulling away when removing it. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    @@JunkyardJunkie I could advance the flywheel with a screwdriver like you showed until it rests on the pin again before tightening. The timing slipping during loosening wouldn't matter if it was returned to TDC for tightening surely? {EDIT} Oh figured it out - TDC occurs twice in a 720deg/4 stroke cycle, so the cam plate ensures you are hitting the right TDC position out of 2 possibilities. Also my 1.6 has a keyed crankshaft which explains why the manual for my engine leaves out all the timing tools headache. Thanks!

    That’s cool. I didn’t know it was keyed. We learn something new everyday. I’m glad you got it figured out.

    Is it the same for the 2.5 Mazda 6 ? 2011

    Why can't I just take off the camshaft pully replace the seal and that's all?

  • @JunkyardJunkie

    @JunkyardJunkie

    Жыл бұрын

    Because with these engines they do not use a key way (I don’t understand why I think it’s stupid not). So instead it has friction washers keeping it together if you just pull off the pulley you will lose timing which isn’t good (I show a good example in the video). Hope this helps let me know if you need any more info. Thanks for watching
