    I feel like it should be required by landlords to show how to replace batteries in smoke alarms. The amount of times I took the batteries out panicking and hitting buttons because the alarm was going off was ridiculous. When really that was the way it was “rebooting” itself.

    Hello Kiersten, Yes, i think Landlords and Builder must provide these information to new homeowners and tenants. As these are basic but stressful situations. Hope with time, this will change. Thanks for your comment.

    It shouted "low battery" and chirped at 6am. I replaced the batteries. I pressed the button. I was then enveloped in a matrix of ozone piercing chirps and cold soulless declarations of carbon monoxide and fire by what sounds like an android nurse. How do I make this stop? Why does a battery replacement notification have to be this obnoxiously extreme? I want to destroy it.

    I was taking a shower about 10:30pm tonight and heard the smoke detector alarm in the bedroom go off. I knew it was the batteries. Fortunately I had 2 fresh AA batteries on hand, but even when I installed them it kept beeping and the woman’s voice in there saying “Low battery” every few minutes was creeping me out! Googling for a pdf proved fruitless, I went to YT and found your wonderful video. After viewing a few times, I saw what I was doing incorrectly. All fixed!! You are my hero! Now I can get to sleep. 💖🙏🏼

    This has been a great help. I called my landlord, but no response. The beeping was too loud. I changed the batteries-no help. I called again, they said it was not beeping. It stopped for awhile but began again. A week passed, I stepped up, on a footstool, to change the batteries again. It beeped but it was not directly from the unit. I begin searching and found it was actually a small personal unit I purchased and plugged in. 🥴 Embarrassed I unplugged it and removed its battery. Then my actual unit spoke to me, “low battery”. I had inserted the unnecessary replacements incorrectly. This video guided me to the right way. I couldn’t see the imprint due to the height. 🤗

    Yes, it can happen as may be reset was not completed. Also, it can be malfunctioning of unit. If that keeps happening, and your smoke Detector is within 10 year warranty (manufacturing date is at the back of unit), you can visit Kidde Website and get in touch with customer care for free replacement unit. They will mail you new one.

    @@How2 Thank you. Removing the unit to see the date at the back and returning to Kidde would be for someone on the maintenance team to handle (I’m a renter). Plus the unit is in the ceiling so it’s for them to dismantle it. I will be informing the property manager at this point. However as of 8::00pm it’s still behaving itself.

    After fiddling around for about a half hour or so, I watched your video which was very helpful. Like someone else said, your voice becomes inaudible when you’re testing & because the light was red, beeping, etc, & did not know if that was good or bad i watched someone else’s video & that told me once this stopped it was a go. The other thing is on mine the red tabs are attached at the top with a spring & cannot be pushed down, so instead I pulled them down so they would be flat against the surface & totally visible, that worked & my batteries remained snugged. Hope this helps if you have the same red tab situation.

    I replaced the batteries but the light isn’t shown green? Do I need to press reset button or its fine to just replace the Batteries? I see a green light flashing every now and then but I also have another detector like this in my other room and it has a green light?

  • @How2

    @How2

    Жыл бұрын

    Hello, Green light should be solid Green on normal use. Please Press reset Button again and see. For blinking green, Kidde website says below" The green LED will blink once every 16 seconds to alert a user when the unit has alarmed for smoke or has detected a hazardous concentration of CO. If the alarm has detected a CO level of 100ppm or greater, when the Test/Reset button is pressed the unit will announce “CO PREVIOUSLY DETECTED.” If the alarm has detected abnormal levels of smoke since its last test, it will produce three rapid beeps. This alarm uses photoelectric sensing technology. Leading authorities recommend that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fires that can occur within the home. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with fast flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible fire particles (associated with slow smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms."

    Don't worry about it. Keep an eye on it for next 24 hours. If its still blinking, you can remove the smoke and the battery and redo the steps. And make sure to press the reset button at the end. Some models for Kidde have solid green light sign of normal operations and some have blinking. Some model have blinking green for standby mode, which mean after changing battery reset is not done. If you can share the exact model and serial number, I might be able to help better

    Hello, I checked few articles and most of them don't recommend Lithium Battery for Smoke Detector. Even Kidde says same. You can check few things - 1. Make sure the direction of charge -/+ on battery is place as marked on smoke. 2. Batteries are brand new 3. They are fit tight. 4. Press test or reset button on detector to reset the warning. It can also be a defective unit. Kidde replaces faulty units for 10 years from unit's manufacturing date. Please check stamp on detector. I know the detector is installed very high, but would recommend to properly check the unit. Thanks

See if it still does warn about Low Battery. Just to try, may be try new batteries. If it still does say Low Battery, and if your smokes are within 10 years manufacturing date (there will be a sticker on Smoke showing this date), you can contact Kidde via website or call, and request replacement.
