The inner tie rod has a ball joint that can wear over time, causing a clunking noise, loose steering, and eventually, other problems with the wheel and suspension components. Thank you for your professionalism and your know-how, I've been wrenching a little over 15 years and I was actually showing my brother some videos you are the only person a majority of the videos that has done everything correctly and recommended in alignment. Thanks for posting, did my 2014 GMC Yukon with no problems yesterday. Had to use a larger crescent wrench to get inner loose, but it was no worries.
I noticed the old tie rods on the vehicle had grease fittings. The new ones don’t. Is that by design? Won’t the news tie rod ends wear out more quickly without the outer end being greased?

The name of that tool is a pipe wrench adjustable pliers 11" you can get it from Amazon are ebay
Please stop beating on your suspension with a hammer!!!! A ball joint removal tool is $25!!!
