Today we will be working on a 2007 Toyota Sienna V6 with a bad ignition coil. Depending on where the bad ignition coil is on your car, and the error code will tell you, this will either be an easy job or a very time consuming and somewhat difficult job. To expose 3 of the ignition coils it is actually very easy. In my case I have a bad ignition coil in the easy place, but I’ll explain to you where the trouble comes in if you have a bad coil in the difficult to reach cylinder bank. So this cover right here just pulls off, there’s some friction fit points that hold it in place so you can easily remove this. You can see where it connects at these three points here, here and here.
Here you can see 3 ignition coils on this cylinder bank. The other cylinder bank is behind all this. You have to take off the manifold and unbolt this vented grid up here. That’s actually quite a bit of work. Fortunately for me the error code indicates that it is just this ignition coil that I need to replace. So I will be going through the process here on these. If you are going to have a mechanic do this, the cost of labor is easily 3 to 4 times as much depending on which cylinder bank they have to access. So in my case I have the error code: P0356F - P035 followed by 1-6 is telling you the ignition coil location.

My experience tells me 1-A, 2-B, 3-C, 4-D, 5-E, 6-F. Front sides, left to right #2, #4, #6. I just fixed the #4 and according to the fix finder printout, it is a”D”. Other than this, I like your sharing to help people a lot.

😮💨 I also needed to replace "D" just did it and was confused it's now running worse. Thanks for that info I'll put "B" back in and see if replacing the right one fixes the issue.

Thanks. I changed the right one and now the check engine light is gone and it's running "smoother". I should probably order an entire pack of coils and plugs and at least change all 3 of the front line.

Either way I’m screwed with c coil being bad on mine 😂
I replaced Foil F over 1 year ago. Now I'm getting error on Coil B. I think the order should be like this when looking from the front. A(P0351) C(P0353) E(P0355) B(P0352) D(P0354) F(P0356) Anyways always swap the bad one with a good one to confirm first.
Should be 1A 3C 5E 2B 4D 6F Viewed from the front bumper.

Thanks
Just what i was looking for. Have to do this on mine and while i had an idea before just diving in and doing it, being able to see it done once is a great help. So Thanks!
thank you for your time on your video. Your information on the coil numbering sequence is to my best estimation incorrect though. It's a very important part of the diagnosis process and your theory ABC is against the firewall and d DEF are against the radiator is incorrect according to the information I gathered after following your information and still having misfires. You have the cylinder numbers correct but Toyota says that B goes with 2, C goes with 3 Etc. If you'd like proof I have screenshots that agree with my synopsis. This is a very important mistake in your video which is otherwise very good. Please correct it so no one else gets it wrong do to your video which seems to be the first video that comes up

I followed that also since the guy at autozone claimed coil d would be on the front left and my light turned back on..... after some research online I'm finding your comment may be right as to 1 A, 2 b, 3 c so on and so on

LB’s comment is correct - I had PO352 (Cyl 2) and my OBDII scanner identified it as Coil B malfunction.

We second this comment, having just replaced the wrong coil while on the road due to the error in this video.
100 percent exactly what I needed! Thanks so much for making this very informative video!
You got the cylinder numbers right but you got the coil letters wrong. But in your case cylinder 6 and coil F will be the bad one, disregarding the way you used to mark the coils with letters, coil 6 will be coil F all the time.
2:25 Ignition coils letters order , that's what I'm looking for. Thanks
Great video! Clearly demonstrated. Well done.
Thanks! Saved me a ton of work. I'm getting a code that coil E is bad. Right in front!

After further research, your coil order is wrong, it goes A1 B2 3C, etc
Fabulous video!
What about the 3 against the firewall
Very helpful, thanks! Fortunately mine was number 6 so easy access.
i have toyota sienna 2005 the ignition order its the same ?
This video really help me. ✌🏻
My mechanic told me that the rubber boot broke when he was changing my spark plugs. While the part is only $7, the auto parts store didn't have any in stock, so I have to wait 2 days for shipping before one will arrive. Hoping this video will make it easier for me to replace it when it gets here!
impressive it's very clean under the hood.
You messed up the order on the letters
What scanner will you recommend?
Do you have to disconnect the negative battery cable to do this job?
the link on description of coil are oem parts?
Thank you very much !
wat are the symptoms of a bad ignition coil?
Thank you, great video. Do you need to use a torque wrench for those bolts or is that unnecessary?

I know this is a year old comment but I’ll answer for anyone who is wondering. I’m sure there are torque specs for this bolt listed somewhere, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
Thanks
this the same for an 09?
I replaced d and my engine light still on and my traction control light it's all on and the error code was ignition coil d. I guess I'll go back to AutoZone and get another one maybe it's bad I have warranty. maybe I should replace the harness or whatever you call the wires because it was brutal and a clip broke but it's in there good

Toyota SHOP time(dealer)for 2007 sienna is 2.5hours for the REAR 3 cylders. its was $315 labor ...and worth EVERY PENNY! this does not include parts. the front plugs and coil packs replace is easier then making toast
Please down vote this video to help people avoid getting bad information for the letters / cyl numbers. Commenting is okay, but this is the first video that comes up for now, and you can see people in the comments who have wasted a lot of time because of the false info. Also, author, please ALL CAPS the mistake in your description to help people.
