That is ridiculous, I've decided I don't need heat
Got to love engineers, let's put a part that commonly needs replaced in a place where you have to take 3/4 of the vehicle apart to get
Ya. It is a tedious job, but not too hard. It will take me two days, but this video goes through every step. Thank you for that. I am replacing the core with an aluminum one.
Your a Master at mechanical machines, Bravo! I don't even own one but enjoyed watching it.
Legend has it that some time ago a Gm engineer walked in on his wife and a mechanic. and from that day forward he vowed revenge!
Great design! Years of tech advancement and we still get vehicles that need to be completely ripped apart to fix a simple but important part. Labor is surely $1000 or more at a shop and very few are equipped at home to do This repair especially since it involves AC refrigerant removal. Frustrating. Good video though.
Fantastic video guys!!! took me 2 days but video was nice to have
You explained everything that needed to be done. I had no idea how involved this job is to do. Blows my mind! Great great video.
This video helped me so much. Thank you for making it.
Well I’m will be doing this job on my 13 duramax this weekend same exact interior as this truck so hopefully it all goes well! This video should be very helpful! Thanks
"Professional grade engineering" yet we couldn't allow the heater core to come out through the fire wall. Hell they didn't even make the cabin air filter removeable without cutting an access slot and buying an aftermarket cover plate not even offered by GM.
I’ll be doing this hateful job on my 12 duramax soon. Same interior so should help out!

+@rideout1989 Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
with the whole air box out it seems like a good time to do the Cabin Air Filter retrofit also, since GM decided to not include it in these models.
Awesome video,,,THANKS
Very Helpful. Thank you.
An engineer must have been dating a mechanics daughter. 🙄
Nice Video.
This is the most ridiculous one I’ve seen yet. Got to have a damn A/C machine just to change a heater core
There’s got to be a work around, mine just went out
Doing this currently. It seems like a lot but it’s really just …… allot.
Good video but I’ll just buy a new truck lol if I had to take all of this apart.
I just did this. No need to pull the seats, centre console, subwoofer, or remove steering column from dash. I didn’t unplug hardly any wires on drivers side. Just take 1 bolt out of steering shaft and unclip shift cable. I left one bolt at the door opening in but loose. I swung the dash from the passenger side like it was hinged and laid it on the centre console with a blanket. More than enough room to remove the hvac box. Had it out on the floor in less than an hour. 2012 Denali hd with exact same interior.
Thanks!

Hello, I just wanted to say that it was a great video and learning experience... thank you so much. Made me want to tackle my project even more. Was thinking I should not, but after seeing your video I am going to do it....:)
I removed the dash to change the heater core. Now I have rain water that leaks into the passenger side floor board. Any ideas? I thought I put everything together as it was.
They should put an access panel to the heater on the firewall. Too many steps for one small piece.
The question is how much does this run for???
Oh god, at first I thought… “I’ll just tackle this”, but now I’m just gonna sell the truck
Yep, nope. Wont be replacing that. Im in florida don't need it anyway. Thank God.
Same process for LT models?

+Justin Guzman Yes, the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
...just take your truck to a chop shop!
😢I'm just going to trade it in or take it to a mechanic this is to much
WHAT THE FFFFFF!!!! LOOK WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO US!!!!
What technology the average person had access to or knowledge of is the tip of the iceberg. It us TOTALLY possible to build a good, solid piece of equipment, but not anywhere near the specs that the government or military would require. It isn’t financially feasible… for obvious reasons ⬆️
I wouldn't want to pay someone to do this job what a joke
This is how Dodge ram and the Ford's are 😢
Engineering sucks they hate mechanics
