Way to go! I received my new headlights today and followed your EZ installation video. Of course my install does not go as easy as yours because I had to remove a brush guard from the front. LOL Once I did that all was pretty easy. I am sure I will have to adjust the headlights which you did not mention in your video. Not a big deal and I will do that in my barn against the back wall. Only flat place I have. lol Anyway I really appreciate your videos as they have helped me maintain my 99 Tahoe and 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Thanks 1A Auto!!

I just replaced a lamp on the driver's side of my 1999 Tahoe with this tutorial. If it's just the lamp on the top, you can reach it from under the hood -- a bit of a struggle but doable for those of us who are not lucky enough to own a socket wrench set. I will be bookmarking this, as now I see it's so easy to see them all I can do them all myself over the next couple of weeks. I'm sure anyone at an autoparts store could have done the same thing but I like knowing how to do things myself. THANK YOU!

Thanks for this! Needed to replace the bulbs in my 97 GMC Suburban. The threads were stripped on two of the four 5mm rods that secure the headlamps, for the easier method of replacement. Glad I found this video as an alternate method.

one other little note if your lucky and its the driver's side low beam is the one that needs replacing I found that I can remove it from under the hood and there is a tray for a second battery on the driver's side ( my 1998 Sierra) and you should be able to see the back of the low beam though a hole in the radiator support. Remove it by simply lifting the wire harness tab and pushing down disconnecting the wire from the bulb as he shows you in this video - - this will allow you to turn the bulb counter clockwise and remove it

Replying to self for other readers.... this worked on my 1999 GMC Suburban as well.

I wish I'd seen this video BEFORE I started to replace the headlight & parking light assemblies on my '97 GMC Sierra. Would have saved me a couple of hours at least!

My grille tabs have long since broken, so once the screws are removed, the whole grille and headlamp assembly comes loose. Great video on the headlamp housings! Thanks!

Very easy to do IF you can get that center tab on the plastic grill to release quickly. I had to fashion something - a 14" pick in a large vise-grips, to reach and depress the tab. While I had the grill off, I examined it and found numerous stress cracks. I sanded lightly and applied some JB Plastic Weld along the crack lines. That will at least slow further progression. The plastic tabs on these old beasts are brittle - take it easy and take your time.

you do not need to remove the grill and entire assembly just to change the headlight bulbs they are accessible from behind the lamps under the hood

+Jaime G. The adjusters should be on the back of the headlight. If you turn the lights on and aim them at a wall while you turn the adjusting screw, you should be able to see the light beam on the wall move. Check fuse and have mechanic scan your vehicle(diagnostic)

Okay on my truck you just need to take out the two 5 mil screws sticking out the top of light assembly .Gently pull and replace bulbs or assembly .No need to take grill off or running lights .

Do you have to remove the grill just to replace the bulbs? Per my 95 Chevy owner's manual all you need to do is take the two threaded pins out and the headlight pulls forward and out.

@@jassyatwal530 actually only the low beam is accessible on the driver's side. On passenger side have to remove the battery. For high beam, have to pull the assembly out.

NO! Remove the four 5mm long bolts accessible from the top (the long ones that stick out). The front of the assembly drops out and you can replace all of the headlamps without removing the entire grille.

Is this the same process for a 96 k1500 Silverado?

Yes u can ...remove the two 5mm bolts and the light assembly will pop out leaving the mounting bracket attached to the radiator core support

Not a job you want to do outside at 10F or you will have a bunch of broken plastic. What a jacked up design. I have had my 99 burb for 10 years and just lost the first headlight so had no idea what a pain this would be.

Well I just had to replace the driver side low beam which was relatively simple cuz you could do it from under the hood but after watching this video I want to know the name of the engineer that thought this up so I can pop him in the nose because when I bought this Yukon it had this giant brush guard mounted to the front bumper which means I have to remove that and the Grill just to change a bulb, looks like I might be putting this thing up on AutoTrader real soon.......

97 Tahoe could use new lens up front , looks easy enough may go led headlights anybody have experience with led and older tahoe.
