Abs faults will prevent 4wd engaging in d40. Check abs sensors, usually the rear sensor cables are damaged as they are exposed to debris. The abs light on your dash indicates this is the problem. I had a similar issue with mine. However my fault was the actual abs controller

Mine finally fixed. A Nissan dealer here in Cyprus wanted €95plus vat for each switch which that makes €452+transfer oil €52+labour €170.total€684. I fixed it with around€250.bought the swithces from Minsk Belarus.I just bought the transfer oil from here.And the problem was 1 of the switches but i replace them all.

Hi - i think it generally a good idea to replace them all - the money you save on garage labour and the time to take it to the garage etc - better to replace all switches and then you know you are all good. How many switches did you replace ? 3 or 4 ?

Hi mate.i bought all 4 swithes but i replaced 3 on transfer box.when i saw that it was fixed then didnt bother to replace the other one.But anyway i didnt knew where was the 4th switch located.Do you have any idea wheres it it?on gearbox? Keep in mind that mine is auto. Cheers mate

I have an 05 frontier. It will only pull in 4 low. It can't go into 4 high or 2 high. It just acts like neutral unless I get it in 4 low. Do these switches cause that if they're bad?

Hi, you should show how ot unplug the B. I couldn't do that.

Did you have to have the main shift selector in 'neutral' for a start (park will not engage until the vehicle moves). ABS light issue won't help either. You can hear it selecting 4L or 2WD if you listen.

@@L663 I didn't have an owners manual as I bought mine 2nd hand. I had to work it out. It was pretty confusing. If you change it from 2WD to 4L while in neutral (which is best) make sure you put your foot on the brake at the same time even if you are on a flat surface. If you do it while in park you will have to drive forward a bit or reverse it if that doesn't work - even a few times. LOL. It's the same if you are going from 4WD back to 2WD.

My nissan pathfinder 2005 dci automatic only driving in 3rd gear. Speed reduces and Il have to switch off and start again. Also struggling to Pull or drive when switching on

did you remove the oil? before removing the switches? i was not clear on that.. I imagine you drained it.

Your Abs light is on hence why your 4wd won't work

Help please. Mine goes into 4 by 4 but won't go into 4lo. I've just found that I have a p1814 code. I've replaced the 3 switches, checked the relays, physically turned the selector to 4by4 and 4 lo (so the transfer case is moving). I've also switched it into 4by4 using the switch and the actuator does turn but it doesn't turn when selecting low. I've stripped the actuator and it all looks very healthy. I've replaced the transfer case oil. I've also used live diagnosis and seen the switch pics up 4lo..... broken wire?

Do you have an automatic gearbox.? It will only go into 4 flow if you have the drive in neutral.

Is there are problem with your computer ? maybe your monitor has reversed the picture ? I can assure you the steering wheel is on the correct side !
