    Thank you so much for this, sir!! Had no idea it would be so easy. Our mechanic made us think it was difficult (as they would!!). I can't recall seeing the water sensor housing in the base of the filter that you are working on ... or you mentioning it in the video. Maybe it's unique to Australian models ... or our particular car - M9R Engine 2009 build. For other folks that may encounter the same thing ... I strongly suggest you put the plastic plugs off the new filter onto the outlets on the old one to stop fuel leakage, then tilt it to expose the sensor plug at the base of the filter. This is removed by grasping the plug and turning it a quarter turn. As you pull the plug out, lots of diesel fuel will follow ... so be prepared!! Next time I will put a small container underneath to catch it all ... something like a rectangular fast food container is ideal. There should be a replacement "O" ring with your new filter, and this goes on the sensor housing after removing and discarding the old ring. Plug it in, using the reverse procedure ... then carry on per the instructions in the video. Again, thanks, and I look forward to seeing more of your stuff ... and hearing your GREAT accent ... again!!

    Thank you for your input! Yeah, some filters can come without water sensor or plug. If quality of diesel fuel is up to certain standard (like ES 590 in Europe) they are not needed.

    I think it can vary with any particular car. Also, I think there's no much need for water sensor these days, depending where you're getting your diesel - it's pretty good quality these days.

    +Fabian Forero It depends on quality of diesel fuel standard in country you live. I live in UK and drive VW Sharan 2.0tdi - diesel, so my manual shows intervals in miles. Service schedule says, that it depends what kind of diesel standard is used (can be specified to the country) and varies from 5'000 to 60'000 miles :) TDI engines using diesel with high sulphur content 5000 miles, sulphur higher than 2000ppm (whatever that means :)) every 10'000 miles.. If diesel is up to standard DIN EN 590 - interval is 60'000. Here's info about UK standard, which is European standard: www.dieselnet.com/standards/eu/fuel_automotive.php I just change it every second or third oil service... And I change oil every 9400 miles (about 15.000km)

    +WheelsAndMotors hey men thanks a lot. Well my car is a Renault Koleos 2.0 diesel I've been cheking and here in Colombia the content of sulphure for diesel is 50ppm, so I quit to the expensive change fuel filter (US $100) each 10000km with Local Renault Dealer, besides for Spain this filter is required to be changed each 50000km!!! So Local Renault is not gonna keep stealing me anymore. And again thanks very much.

    Hello thought id ask a couple of questions as you have the same car. I have a 2005 DCI and i had a squeeky engine belt. I replaced the belts but the squeek is still there. Is it the tensioner pulley making the noise ?

  • @wawayltd

    @wawayltd

    7 ай бұрын

    I don't interact mych with that car. It's my dad's, and we live in different countries.. However, squeeks on belts are normally come from pulleys. Could be the tensioner, or maybe alternator pulley. Or maybe whatever pulley else can be making it. .

    I know that manual transmission oil doesn't need to be changed. Automatic, I think it depends on type of a gearbox. VW DSG and Ford PowerShift definitely need servicing about every 30-40 thousand miles. I know very little about Nissan, sorry.

    Hi all! New to the forum and wondering if any of you could help. I have an audi a4 b7 2.0tdi (140) which iven owned for a few months. Great car but ive noticed that when I start the car in the morning when the engine is cold the car shakes quiet badly whilst cranking then the starter catches the flywheel and it starts with a puff of white/blueish smoke then everythings fine. strangely enough if i start the car let it run for a minute but not fully warm then start it again it still shakes whilst cranking and keeps starting this way untill the car has reached 75-90'c. Once its reached that temperature when i turn it off and start its perfect no shaking whatsover. Now i dont think this car was regularly serviced as the fuel filter was really dirty as was the air filter so i changed them both a while ago made a difference to the pick up but still have the starting issue. Then I thought it could be the glowplugs so had it scanned with vagcom and two of the glowplugs where at fault. changed all four hoping it would fix the problem but it was still the same. Now when i changed the old fuel filter i poured out the diesel that was in it into a glass jar and it looked like there was oil floating at the bottom of it so thinking maybe the fuel is contaminated with oil, tandem pump? I ran liqui moly through the injectors and the moly that was returning from the engine was nearly black very dirty so dont know if its just soot from the injectors or not. Im thinking maybe valve stem seals but would the initial start not clear the oil straight away and wouldnt affect subsequent starting? It definately seems to be temperature related. There seems to be some blow by from the oil filler cap smoking and what not. dont know if the two are related tho. As ive said no drive-ability problems just the starting. Any help will be much appreciated as im at a loss! Thanks Richie kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoNlz5eSgNqoc6w.html

    Yeah it has a blanking plate over it, i know, im at a loss.... Thinking either leaking injector or valve stem seals but if it were that would the rough starting not clear up after the first start it starts like this until the car is fully warmed up.

    +Ray Patterson Oil filter is located at the bottom of the engine, just in front of the right drive shaft (same side of the car as fuel filter). It looks like a metal can. Use oil filter wrench. Unfortunately, I don't have access to that car (for at least a year), so I can't show you, but I have a video with another car, that has similar oil filter, but in different location, it's VW Passat B5. It's a Paper Element filter, you access the filter from under the car on the front right side, its like a 21 or so socket to remove the bottom of the housing

But! I have quite a lot of technical info on T31, so if any trouble don't hesitate :)
