    Unplugging the wheel speed sensor can cause an error condition that turns on the ESP BAS and Traction Control lights on the dash. At least it did in my case. Apparently the same thing can happen if you disconnect other ABS components or even the battery. If it happens to you, you can reset it easily. Start the engine, center the steering wheel, turn all the way to the left, turn all the way to the right, then center the wheel and shut the engine off. After that it may take 3 driving cycles to clear the codes and make the lights go out.

    If the old hub is frozen in the knuckle take a BFH & drive out 2 of the old wheel studs. Full length wheel studs DO have clearance to be removed from the hub with the knuckle if you try to turn them to the 9 o'clock position. Remove the 3ea 10mm bolts & the dust shield. Also remove the 32mm axle nut securing the drive shaft to the hub. Next make sure the driveshaft splines are semi-loose in the center of the hub. Buy 2ea 4" X 1/2" hex bolts (full thread). Stick them through the 2 lug nut stud holes placing 2ea 1/2" hex nuts on the back side of the hub. After removing the 32mm axle nut, screw the 2ea 1/2" bolts in pressing the tips of the bolts against the steering knuckle (NOT THE EDGE OF THE WHEEL HUB). This should serve to "press" out the old hub from the steering knuckle. The long bolt & nut method along with a BFH worked on my Indiana driven 09' T & C with 130k on the clock.

    Great video but I seriously doubt the old bearing is going to come out with a single hit of a sledgehammer. I rented a puller from the auto zone but I see it's too small to use on my Dodge Grand Caravan. Will try hitting it but I am skeptical.

    Great video EXCEPT you are missing the half shaft axle to hub gasket/washer that goes on the end of the CV shaft. Part number is 4809863AC. It is never shown on removal or installation. Also, be careful of the outer tie rod bolt hole in the knuckle. The casting on both my knuckles cracked @55' lbs. Yes, my torque wrench was set properly.

  • @brianm9007

    @brianm9007

    2 жыл бұрын

    No. If it's done just like he did, you do not have to get an alignment. Since he didn't change the length of the tie rod end, replace the ball joint or disconnect the strut (all of which would change the alignment), you can run the car just fine after this without an alignment.
