Just finished the job. Watched a little of the video then went and did that part so on and so on. The only thing I did different was my wheels are plain steel wheels with the open center, so I broke the 30mm axle nut first with the wheel still on and then removed it at the proper time. Thanks for the video.

this vid was maybe useful in 1968, because now you could use the actual slide hammer and bearing pullers to get a much easier result, plus you wouldnt even have to realign the whole axle with that method

@@2012isRonPaul The people who already have bearing pullers and slide hammers also already know how to do this. The people stuck trying to DIY for $$$ reasons will spend as much as they would paying a pro if they heave to buy fancy tools.

This took a a couple days for me to do because I live in Minnesota so everything is basically corroded together and rusty like you wouldn't believe, that and I did this in my garage and I don't own a press so I had to pay 50 bucks for for a shop to do it for me, but other than that everything else went alright!

Is this the reason my car bonks and wobbles at high and low speed not all the time only when I go on an uneven surface or when I go against the misalignment it starts to shake when I hit the brakes and slow down it stops I can go on the he flattest surface with no problem but give a little resistance or go on any in even pavement it wobbles like an earthquake

Good video, but what striked me as odd is that, when you tried to remove the race, you used blocks. you could have used a socket the that is a a little bit smaller diameter as the hub snout and a steel plate and you would have been able to save time from using a bunch of blocks an the air chisel

this has nothing to do with bearings but the part where he said you can whack yourself in the face with a tool or car part is true i know i had a fully assembled strut smack me in the forehead. and no it did not make me smarter it just made me know to not try and be a human cyborg and go fast on a car anymore.. so now since that day i take my time with the impala. and it runs better than ever. and yes i laughed a few minutes after i got done cussing the car out and the part for hitting me smack dead center in the forehead.

It's easier if you just replace the entire hub assembly/knuckle from a junkyard. Pressing the bearing out/in is a pain and cost more in labor if you pay someone else. An entire assembly is as cheap as $20 as high as $100 at a junkyard. If you're not changing the entire knuckle then Using a hydraulic press like he is doing is also a pain. Get (buy or rent) a proper bearing puller and slide hammer kit. You can remove the hub assembly with a slide hammer puller $69) or a Screw Puller ($20-50). Then use a FWD bearing removal kit ($50-70) Or rent those tools at autozone/advanced/orielly.
