what is the part number for a replacement handle on your site - I can't find one

WORTH READING back bolt of plate which secures the lock (reinstalled here at 9:51 with a swivel socket) is way easier if you reinstall just the window switch wire and PUT THE WINDOW ALL THE WAY DOWN FIRST. The bolt is then easily accessible so you can line up the lock, plate, door, and handle.

To get that 2ND bolt out, ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN.. and you'll have direct access beside the glass .

Thank you 1A! That vapor barrier plastic is pretty nasty. I was able to do this replacement a little easier by leaving the speakers in place and only peeling away the corner where the handle is. No need to completely remove those.

If you run the window down, you can get to the rear door handle bolt through the access hole with jsut a 10mm socket and extension! Also, removal of the speakers and all of the vapor barrier plastic is not necessary for removing/replacing the door handle!

Having some serious trouble getting that clip to go over the rod for the door handle. After I get the handle in I cannot get the clip to go on.

If you drop bolts into the abyss at the bottom of the door, the bottom panel is removable with a couple clips.

Currently 3 days into this job. Dropped the rear mounting plate bolt into the abyss of the door and cant find it, then dropped the front bolt as well. Finally got some new bolts and washers at ace, now I can’t get the green clip (new door handle from O’Reilly has a white clip) over the exterior door handle rod once I get it in the hole. I only have so many hours to work on it because it’s winter and freezing out once it’s dark. What a nightmare, access to that upper clip is terrible.

Much easier to lower the window for the removal of the bolt loosened by the ratchet wrench

I found it easiest to start with the window down, do that bolt first, roll it up, do the replace as depicted here, then roll it down again to put the last bolt in and close it up

I have a 2005 Subaru outback. I replaced the left front outside handle. I cannot get the latching rod to go back into place, and lock into the little plastic clip. In this video the rod that connects to the green clip. Any advice on how the rod is supposed to sit, or a way I can get the plastic clip to secure to the rod?

Is there a way to get it off without the trim tool? Would a knife or something work?

At 7:18 "This bolt is really hard to get to because of that glass" - does anyone have a tip here? Really hard is an understatement - we're stuck

Pro tip: scrape a pea sized bit of the blk goop vapor barrier glue onto fingertip, use to hold 10mm onto fingertip for tricky insertion and to catch first threads

Why take the speakers and the mirror trim off?

+George Watson This will be the same type of installation on the rear.

This video is awesome but it would have been totally cooler If you would have said to roll the window down! I can't believe I've taken this much time and could have done just that stupid little maneuver! But thank you for the video.

You could have saved a huge chunk of time by Not removing the speakers and the all the plastic. Others have also said this is a huge mistake. A1 doesn’t do Real Garage work. Smh

Yea mines broke where it wont open from the outside. So i go in thru the passenger side, reach over and put the drivers window down and then reach thru the window to open it from the inside to get in.

Not helpful, just put the window down for free access to the left hard to reach bolt!

“down”?? Do you mean put the window “up”?

Why would you need to remove the speakers?????? They’re Nowhere near the door handle!! You removing “all” the plastic plus speakers is Exceedingly a waste of time! Geezus, just move enough plastic out of the way to gain access to the bolts and door handle. Time is Money! You don’t waste Time on Unnecessary Steps!!

Maybe use your common sense to remove the parts you need. They're doing a demo, by showing how to remove all the trim they can help people who are looking to do some other maintenance, or working on models which may require more trim to be removed for access.

@@zoravar.k7904 the video is specifically for the door handle though. So if you dont need to do all of that to fix the handle, they shouldn't put it in the video.
