Thank you, gentlemen! My 15-year-old daughter (having never worked on cars before) decided she wanted to change our pads, watched your video with no other training, and did it. So proud of herself! Thank you for helping me do my job.

It comments like these that made me start working on my car 🤣.
Love how this channel never has stuck bolts or bolts that spin and wont loosen. Or any other actual real life occurrences when working on vehicles….
After fixing my screeching serpintine belt that turned out to be loose and replacing my failing caliper, I've gained tons of confidence on working on my '05 Civic Coupe. You guys' videos are a god send! I find the Haynes manual to be a little confusing at times due to some of the steps jumping over the place. I just suck when there's too much info given at one time too and if it's not straight to the point. You guys get right to it. Thank you!

Just got done doing this to my 2005 Civic LX. Here's an additional tip: #2:08 those 12mm bolts might be spinning freely and not coming lose. Use pliers to grip the other side of the bolt and it should break free. Also I only had to remove the bottom bolt and it can pivot on the top bolt.
Thank you 1A auto for this video! I just got done changing my brakes and rotors using this video. You saved me $200 dollars!

Great video and definitely helped a ton with my first time working on my '03 Acura 1.7 EL's front brakes and rotors. The use of silicone lubricant during the service (i.e. slides, slider pins & brake pad - caliper contact areas) was well described and certainly improves the quality of the job. As mentioned previously the brake fluid reservoir should be open before squeezing in the caliper cylinders and watched to make sure it doesn't overflow. Pumping the brakes does help to bring down the fluid level a bit but more might need to be taken out to get down to the "max level" by the job's end.

Not point in doing this, unless you topped off your fluid when your pads were low and worn which is never a good idea.
When compressing the calipers, make sure you have the room in your break fluid reservoir or you will have a mess dripping all over the fire wall.

+rc6147 Thank you very much!
It looked like the new pads sat into the clips pretty easily. I needed to use the C clamp and a hammer to get mine to finally sit square, which seems a bit excessive, and my test drive I could hear friction as soon as the wheels start turning (in fact it goes quiet only when I apply the brakes). Is it possible to shave down the brake pad tabs to get them to fit in the calliper clips less tightly? Or should I just return them?
Superb thanks sir
Awesome, looks easy. Now, I just need to borrow your tools. And your lift...
Which ratchet drive works best for this job?

What are chances of you documenting a full brake and rotor job on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Limited)?
The Honda dealer claimed the pads were 2 mm and "unsafe to drive". Turns out they're 4 mm, good for a lot more miles. Thieves.

Can never trust them. I feel bad for people who bring there cars there. Obviously you can’t find everything without proper tools but if you can greatly reduce taking to their dealer then they winning by saving money. Stealerships charge way too much for the work.
Aye is it bad that the 17 mm bolts on the caliper bracket are super super tight to the point where I can’t take them off?
Also for the break pads what type of grease did you use on back?
@1AAuto

They sell an anti-squeak lube that you can buy at the auto parts store
The slides that the 12mm bolts go into. I had an issue with them spinning when I was trying to tighten the bolts. The sort of oval head on them looks like it should key into an edge on the bracket to keep it from spinning but neither of them had anything like that. I tried holding them with vise grips which only helped a little. Am I not understanding something here? I seem to remember other cars simply having a long bolt.

Gotta use adjustable wrench adjustable spanner work for holding it down while unscrewing/tightening bolt
Quick question. I just ordered my rotors for my 2001 Honda Civic ex coupe and I thought the rotors didn’t have tho screws in them so my question is am I going to run into those screws stripping and not coming off?

Did u find out ?
I found my brake rotor was difficult to remove. Pro tip: At 4:05 where he says you can use some m8 bolts to make removal easier-- to do this you can actually use the same two 12mm bolts (see 2:08) that were holding the caliper in place. I suggest using a tap first to remove built up dirt/rust and to make threading them easier. (You'll need an M8 x 1.0 tap) (Before I figured this out I tried tapping the rotor out with a hammer. Don't bother, because this didn't work for me at all.)

so in essence, to swap just brakes you only need to remove caliper with the 12mms... great vid yet again, thanks
When i lift my car and spin my wheels all of them spin freely except for the back left wheel, could the drum be sticking or is it the wheel hub?

what about the springs?
Is it necessary to remove the brake fluid reservoir cap prior to pushing the piston back into the caliper?
@1AAuto
7 жыл бұрын
+Ben Franklin Yes, the idea is to keep the system from building too much pressure. So some fluid may leak out of the reservoir, but otherwise you'll have a much harder time compressing that piston. Thank you for watching. Please let us know how the repair comes out! 1aauto.com?KZread&CTA%20Comment&ATony 888-844-3393

It's the brake shoes in the back! Take the rear wheels off and remove the brake drums and grease the shoes some. They are rubbing and causing that little squeak noise. Make sure you don't have you're emergency brake on when trying to remove the brake drums.
