Great as always! Used this for my 2007: opening handle screw changed to T10 w cover. Closing handle socket was only 1/4", 7mm was too big for Craftsman 😊

What was the reason of replacement? On my ford the door cannot be opened from outside but can be opened from inside

Before you go out an buy an exterior door handle, make sure that it's the door handle and not the REINFORCEMENT! That's the part on the INSIDE of the door that most often leads to a broken door handle. This video shows you how to replace an exterior door handle, not the reinforcement that actually opens the door. I bought a whole new door handle when all I needed was a new reinforcement.

Thanks. I just called to price it out. You saved me $89 in labor, for one door.

At minute marker 4:00 . . . gotta have WINDOW in "up" / "closed" position to reach this screw! I pulled out a 1 1/2" rubber plug covering the access hole, then used 3" extention (1/4" drive). This particular screw is long! About 2 1/2" with only 1" of thread. I stuck small towel inside to catch screw if it dropped. P.S. an auto mechanic ought to have a magnetic retriever tool anyway! (I'll soon have to do the other side. Sigh). Cheers! Thanks for video.

You may want to check the door lock actuator if it doesn't lock with the remote.

That little white cube on the outer door handle won’t come off or fit on the slot it supposed to go to.

I've never had a part get delivered so quickly. Thank you for that. Unfortunately this did not fix my problem. Is the arm that opens the latch supposed to connect to my new handle? I followed this video step by step and the door still doesn't open from the outside.

Yo may want to take a look at the latch that grabs the striker on the door which holds it shut. If it's closed you may need to take a flathead screwdriver and tap it open so that it works again. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

I followed your Ford Focus 00-07 outside door handle replacement and found on my car that the handle part was not broken. The reason the door won't open when I pull the handle is the metal part that is pulled by the handle is broken off. The assembly is mounted above the plastic door handle, and a small finger extends down and is pulled by the door handle. Do you sell this part? What is it called? ks

I was wanting to know if you can give me any pointers because I have tried everything I know I have a 1988 chevy g20 conversion van and the driver's side door the door will open but it won't latch into place even when I slam the door it goes into place but won't stay shut do you have any ideas?

+chris gratopp You may want to remove the door panel to see if the door handle has broke or to see if a rod has become detached from the door handle. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com

the handle does not seem to be broken, when I inspected from the inside I found a small lever made of pot metal (about 3mmx15mm) broken of the crank arm that changes the horizontal motion of the handle pull to an up motion to the linkage arm to the latch. Is this replaceable?

Hi Craig, It may or may not be. It's hard to tell without being able to see the actual piece that broke. If you ask the dealer they should be able to take a look at it on the exploded parts diagram, and tell you if the part can be replaced. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393

we don't, you should be able to get one at your local dealer though.

the door opens fine with the inside handle, but the outside just pull open, doesnt engage the mechanism, doesnt close back by itself either - no spring. does this sound like just the outside handle? or the inside mechanism as well?

Ok, so how do you replace the mechanism behind the handle. Seems to be a common problem with the handle as well. I have no door handles as one disintegrated and the other the metal catch broke off that catches the handle.

Did you ever get this fixed? I'm trying to narrow down what the true problem is, as other people have commented about the handle not being the problem. It feels like my handle has lost "connection" to the mechanism inside that actually opens the door latch. My older brother had a ford focus 1 year older than mine and his door handles had the same problem. What's very strange is that it's the passenger side handle that breaks first. I would expect the driver side handle/mechanism to break 1st since it's used like 20-50x more.

How different is the procedure on an 08? I went to open my door and something popped and sounded like it fell. Not even sure where to begin. Do you sell parts for the 08 door handle?

And or does this handle connect to anything on the inside I'm assuming it has to. Can u show me where/how because I don't think it's the handle I think it's something inside the door under panel that isn't connected to the actual handle anymore?!

I was licked out my 09 focus i dont have a key fob so had to crawl through the trunk I have the same problem

It is called a reinforcement

It's a 5mm socket on most, 7mm on some

ordered part. part came. plastic hooks to keep it in snapped while installing. Was not even using force either.

+1A Auto Parts i know this is a year later but this happened to my back right side door too. when asked to the dealership they said it needs one part that will round me up to 400$!! all i want to do is be able to manually lock the door or just safely take off the handle so no one can use it

i keep flinching, expecting that focus door to hit that bel air or whatever it is next to it

My door won't open from either inside or the outside.

Was the window up or down because the guy that was working on my door he couldn’t do it because he couldn’t get the window down

Make shure your focus door is not 6 inches away from your classic car winging a screwdriver around...

The main door handle is a 1/4" socket not a 7mm ....... Just so everyone knows ......

My out side door handle is not what broke but the thing it connects to. I had that same problem. I ended up going to my local wreckers (pick and pull) and grabbed the entire inside door lock mechanism and the handles it was attached to. It was under 20 bucks. I also got the haynes repair manual as that details how to fully remove and replace it. You have to take out the window guide and window mechanism as well in order to properly remove everything. This also was easier than trying to remove the damn metal rods that connect the exterior door handle and lock to the door latch mechanism. I ended up needing a really small torx bit that I did not have and so opted for just getting the entire door latch and everything.

I'm not sure if I can trust this video or not. You did not use a 10mm socket even once!

The only issue with this video is they replaced the part that isnt the problem that inner door mechanism piece of crap is the part that breaks its 12.00 on ebay
