These 1A Auto videos are the best! Always concise and accurate; just what I'm looking for. Some of their parts can be found more cheaply elsewhere but they look like quality parts (although I cannot really attest to their quality) This part can be found as an OEM for $19 on Amazon but if you buy one from the dealer it's $75 so this one at $45 is in the middle.
I have a 2000 camry 4 cyl 2.2 L engine Automatic Transmission. The engine runs good but, usually when I'm accelerating it hesitates and lurches. It seems to be worse when the engine is hot. Rarely does it at high speed. Resistance on the EVAP purge valve and vent valves checks out good. The hand held scanner says EVAP canister, but I think it's prob something else in the EVAP system.
AND WE ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER...

+Yukio Strachan We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com

@@1AAuto Thank you! It went off. All is well. This video was a lifesaver!
How do you know if it's not the larger EGR on the right side of the Modulator?
I'm trying to change on a v 6 & only shows on the 4
I also changed the egr and still same code
Please I need one of this. How do I order?
What's that hose called that's located right above the oil cap? It's shaped like this [
2000 Toyota Camary. Under the egr there's a large bolt, why didn't I see you take it off and put it back on? It's not a matter of just pulling off that large vacuum hose, there's a bolt screwed in that area.

+Joesph Schramm The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
To everybody that got the dreaded p0401 - do NOT dump money into it. Once it comes on it'll just never go away unless the motor is pulled, and no bullshit replacement of parts will help. The problem is with EGR tube to the EGR valve that gets completely clogged up with carbon, and since the tube is directly behind the engine right by the firewall, there is no way of getting to it without full pulling the motor. Even if you pull the motor and try to get the tube off, you won't, becasue it's so set that'll you'll have to break it off, and if you damage the threading, it's a hole other fucking nightmare. If you get the p0401 it'll be easier to just get rid of the car as fast as possible, otherwise you might as well just put it out of it's misery like a sick horse, becasue once the p0401 comes on for any of the two hundred thousand reasons, computer will start dumping fuel into the motor, so not only you'll be getting 15mpg, but becasue it just keep running rich all of the time, the carbon build up will be even worse, which will began destroying every sensor in its path, to eventually get to and destroy your catalytic converter. Our Camry has 139K miles on it. It can't pass emissions after repeated attempts to swap out every bullshit EGR related part, it burns gas like a freight train, and no amount of regular maintenance mattered - the EGR system was designed to fail, as a feature. It's a shit show that just won't end, so once you get the p0401, just unload your Toyota to some sucker that still believes that Toyotas are "reliable", get a Honda and never look back.

If this is true, and it was “designed” to fail, have you sought out any action towards them making it so it will fail and the only way to fix it is as you said? If it’s even true.

Just changed the egr valve that did nothing. You’ve officially added to my anxiety about this damn code.

You're right. I have this code on a 2001 Camry plus the P0402 code. My mechanic did everything he could to fix it. He said the solonoid was bad, fixed it and the code remains it also caused the valve somehow to not have vacuum but before he changed it it did have vacuum before. He tried another brand new valve and it still wouldn't work right and the code stays on and it jumps to 2000 rpm on a cold start for like 6 or 7 minutes idling before it drops to about 700 rpm. I'm still getting around 25 miles a gallon on the highway though. Luckily they don't require emissions tests in my area.
is this similar at all to a '92 corolla?

+Ryan This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
How bout the colossally more difficult job of replacing the VSV, same vehicle?
