This is a unique case. We’ve been working on the right front suspension on our Polaris Ranger 800 Crew. We’ve changed the wheel bearings, the A-Arm bushings, and the ball joints. During the process of tearing things down for those jobs, we discovered that this unit had the wrong CV axle in it.
But in this video, we’re going to use that half shaft to show you how to remove the CV joint on your UTV or ATV and then replace the CV boots. You’ll need a couple of special tools along the way to deal with the clamps holding the boots in place, and John will point those out.
And a reminder: get both boots and the smaller clamps onto the half shaft BEFORE you reinstall the CV joint. Once the joint is reinstalled, it’s impossible to get the boots over the joint and onto the half-shaft.
