Everything is sagging with one broken spring and rusted holes in mounts. I already have my new parts in and this video has been a tremendous help!! First time delving in this area. Hey Stevie from MM! I want to thank you for this video as I used it exclusively today to do the spring(s) on one of my Rangers. They are VERY close to the F-150's with a few slight modifications. Thank God for you telling what size that socket was. Oddly enough, I went to 5 Autozones and 4 of them either didn't have it, or if they had one, it was marked 1 1/8 on the black plastic hanger, but the actual socket said 1 1/16! Fifth autozone was the charm as I was flying around trying to get this late on New Year's Eve so I could do this on New Years Day which is a day when my phone does not ring all day long and I actually get something done (if my neighbors don't come flying over like zombies all saying "I want you to look at something," and try to get me to come to their home or automobile. I want to cry when that happens - so distracting!). Anyway, I got the driver's side done today as it gets dark so early. I drove the truck to one of my other homes and the driver's side is so much stiffer and taller. I know it's going to be amazing when I finish the passenger side tomorrow (pryaing no zombies!). Thanks again buddy, you save me so much time and this video was right there next to me on the iphone : ) . Next, I'm going to be hitting the radius arm bushings after consulting your video on such, on at least one Ranger and one F-150. Got lots of work ahead of me with 2 Rangers and 3 F-150's but just going to get one of each done so I have one of each ready to go. Your videos have REALLY helped and I appreciate your time and effort. Your videos are an enduring, lasting contribution to all of us who get so much out of your skill-set, time, patience, knowledge and the wonderful way you present each video. Happy New Year to you and Mrs. MM!

Wow! You have quite the vehicle collection! Hahaha! Zombies! I love it! I know the feeling. Sometimes, I start a project on my truck and several people decide they need me. It definitely interrupts the work flow. Good for you bud! If you can replace the radius arm bushing while you have the coil springs out, that makes the job easier. Anyhow, good luck Patrick and as usual thank you so much for the plethora of compliments. You are the reason I keep making these videos! I’ll pass on your well wishes to the Mrs. MM Happy New Year to you!

    So. My question is did the new springs improve your handling/ride? I have a 94 4wd thats on original springs all around and it seems the springs are just too soft. almost bouncy as if the shocks are worn out, but they're not. I want to try new springs, but not sure if I should try to find some with a higher rate, or what.??....

    jackmama79 New coils brings do or at least should improve ride quality. However, I’ve tried both AC Delco and Moog and both make terrible coil springs. The springs sag and the upper three coils touch each other. I have found a site online (I believe it’s called Eaton Detroit Spring) they claim to have the OE spec from Ford and make replacements. Since, I haven’t tried them, I can’t exactly recommend them. Are your shocks new or old?

I thought I saw a 4x4 F-150 where it was.... ugh.... why is suspension hardware the trickiest thing. Anyway is it? The one I have now has 2-3" of thread ( I have 1 1.8" nuts ) and then just a straight shaft.. Also interesting to note.. My vans spring retainer ( that top clip) actually has a bolt in the top and the bracket runs under the spring and bolts again to the side.. @DS-mo6md

    @@TheMinuteMasters yes. I tried to go out and look at the van but the spring perch doesnt look as big as the f150. So maybe there is a nut under it over the radius arm top.. So one bolt.. 2 nuts maybe. From bottom i think it's.. Bolt head.. Spring perch bottom (radius may be first i think the perch tucks into it). Radius arm bottom. I beam. Radius arm .. Nut.. Top of spring perch. The bottom retainer and insulator then another nut. Oh its going to be a blast.. But yeah lol. I have 3/4 -16. And the thread is 2 inches it may be off by centimeters.

    I have a 96 f150 2wd with a 4.9 inline 6 and I installed some Moog CC824 coil springs. They’re taller than oem springs. Once I install them they “bow” slightly once the weight of the truck is on it. Any ideas or suggestions? I’ve not been able to find any help on the problem.

    Chris Baute it’s funny you should mention that because my set of Moog coil springs does the same thing. I’m not really sure what causes it. The only thing I can think of is that the Moog replacement spring is a softer spring rate and barely holds up the front of the F150. So unfortunately I don’t exactly have a fix for you other than maybe trying a different spring from a different manufacturer. Either a Ford parts or some other competing aftermarket brand. I do know the coil springs that I removed from my truck actually made the front sit up higher than it does now and the coils themselves were actually thicker. The old cool Spring was also shorter than the movie replacement spring.

    Absolutely! The previous coil springs I think were from a F250. So the ride definitely got softer and smoother. However, I do think most of the aftermarket coil springs are garbage. This is mostly because they are progressive rate coils which are great for smooth roads. I just don’t think they work well over rough roads and the top three coils practically sit on top of each other.

    @smartdummy5751 Жыл бұрын

    Sometimes the spring doesn't have enough clearance between the upper shock cup and the lower control arm (especially if you have a unleveled ground) so you are kinda forced to use a spring compressor for the sake of not having to become socrates and scratch your head all day long trying to engineer your way out of the problem. You can always employ a safety method to decrease the chances of undesired results ☠️ like using a ratchet strap to keep the spring compressed just in case the spring compressor gives.

    Mike Secondo, there is a proven, direct link between years of automotive oils and grease absorbed through the skin and pancreatic cancer. Most companies that have their employees' health in mind, provide nitrile gloves for their mechanics to wear. Many mechanics who have worked without skin protection for decades (like yourself) have increasing risks of developing this cancer. They are not "woman gloves" as your ignorant comment suggests. They are the safe and informed method to perform work in contact with dangerous chemicals such as used engine oil, greases and automotive solvents. Get informed and stop being an ignorant troll.
