Thanks for the clear explanation of how to disconnect the elbow. The official manual just says to remove the bolts holding the egr to the motor. It doesn't tell you about the many other things you have to remove first to be able to get at the bolts. A bugger of a car to work on!!

Sorry guys a couple of typos in my post I meant problem car and that they kept marketing and selling them I got warranty from GMHOLDEN at 172000 kms for the starter mitt , battery harness and solenoid nut , and I now have a new 2 years warranty on these items Don’t just spend you hard earned bucks before going back to GM It cost not to ask

I need to know how you got the bolt off on the l shaped bracket? it seems impossible to get a tool between the bracket and the top of the engine

How hard did you have to pull on the pipe. I've managed to get the locking ring to turn about 5mm but pipe won't dislodge

Very hard. A little prying against the head would help. Make sure spray lots of penetrating spray around the ring area too. It helps.

I have the very same problem ring will only move about 5mm and she just wont seperate 😢

I managed to get the EGR and cooler off despite not being able to remove the elbow pipe. Took some tricky work with a 1/4" drive socket and universal joint.

How did you do that I just bought a brand new EGR cooler I am thinking about taking it to a workshop for removal and fitting ?? Did you replace the valve as well or just cleaned it
