yeah i know. i hate on youtube when example title of video : how to change air filter in 1 minute video length : 20 minutes. then person starts out wasting 5 minutes saying all the little details on why they needed to change theirs instead of showing how to do the gd thing.. lmfao

About the heater core tubes...I slid a sheet of copy paper in first on the side of the tubes You can either tape it to the housing or hold it while sliding in the filter. Once you get the filter started, the copy paper pretty much stays in place. Just make sure you leave enough hanging out, about half an inch, so you can remove it once filter is installed. Good luck.

Thank you for posting the video. Bad design as other people noticed(2001 dodge caravan) . I could not not fit the filter in, due to the clumsy and crooked plastic rack inside seen at 0.59 . I end up taking it out and breaking it in the process :(. Without it and with a few more cuts on the filter (for bending) got it in :) . It the new models the designers eliminated that problem by positioning the filter horizontally behind the glove box.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grandcaravan SXT , this is a front and rear air system, it does not appear to have this door you slid off. The ducts/vents are nasty and stink. It’s been setting few months and I started it to be greeted with a big gush of dirt blew out (Lord I hope it was “just dirt”). I am trying to get van back on road. If it can have a filter , it NEEDS IT

If you do not have the cabin air filter option I would take it to your local dealer and see if they have a way or any suggestions on now to clean out your vents.

A filter does not exist in my 2007 Twn and Ctry. I checked the air pathways and they are dirty, grimy, undesirable. Strange that Chrysler wouldn't have a filter for what was an expensive family van.

Here's the deal: If your van has front AND rear a/c and heat...you change the filter as explained above. HOWEVER: if your van has FRONT ONLY a/c and heat (with seperate driver/pass. controls)...the video does NOT apply. This is a different unit and there is no door to remove. There may or may not be a factory installed filter in there, but there's nothing you can do about it. I have the short wheelbase, and my van has NO removable door.

10trooper12: We have a 2003 Dodge Caravan SXT and it has no cabin air filter anywhere. We have dual air and heat to the rear of the van thru ports under the front seats. Where the cabin air filter should be, there is a port completely sealed closed w a small 1/4 inch dia. tab hanging town. I tried to pull this cover off and the tab broke off and a small piece of plastic w it. I stuck a long skinny screwdriver up the hole for at least 8 inches and did not feel anything that would be close to being a filter of any sort. Glued the piece back and moved on. Would love to ask my (major repair wrench turner) to see if he comes up w the same results. 02/07/16

I have the same question about the '07 Dodge Grand Caravan that I just bought for my mom. The owner's manual describes replacing the cabin filter in the same way as shown in the video, but, when I look under the dash there is no opening. The housing is smooth and does not have any opening like the one in this video. The build sheet/option list also indicates that the van has a filter. Very confusing. Guess I have to contact a Chrysler dealer. :/

MY 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT is not like this video. I dont see the slide and release, it looks as if the cabin air filter is in a sealed area. I'm not taking the box apart to find it. I have seen many post about this, maybe yall could get ahold of one and do a video on it. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

***** I have a 07 Grand Caravan with dual front zone and rear heat and air and do not have one. I've seen them in vans with the same options as mine and ones with less options. I don't think even Dodge knows which ones have them and which ones don't.

Pete Patel HI, your vehicle may not have the filter depending on where it was manufactured. The prior year has the filter located beneath the glove box, if you'd like to take a look. Remove the felt or plastic cover that is directly under the glove box. If you don't see a door where the filter would go... your model may not have one.

my 2007 Caravan does not seem to have the locking clip and removable door. but partsource sells me the filter for my van?? is there a way into the filter housing? or did the ass just sell me a filter for a different year beacause they are all generally the same filter and he guessed at it? it looks just like the one in this video but the entrance area is sealed.

I have two 2005 mini vans...one is a town & country with No rear heat/AC and single temp controls, the other is a Caravan with rear heat/AC and duel temp controls, driver & passenger. Neither vans have a cabin filter, just a sealed box. I have toyed with the idea of cutting the slot, installing a filter and fabricating a cover to seal the housing. Any suggestions?

+hatfez Check the Dodge parts. there may be cabin housing that you can install. I would check before creating your own filter housing

A question when there is no air-conditioning filter in the car .. Does it negatively affect it ... and where does the dirt go .. For cars that do not have an air-conditioning filter, 99, 98, 97, etc.

Over time the ventilation system will get dirty and blocked with debris. The cabin air filter is like your house filter. The debris enters the cabin of your vehicle through your vents.

I have a 2006 Town & Country touring with 3.8L engine. It does not have an access door, even though the owners manual and my Chilton repair manual say that it does. I also checked behind the glove box. It appears that some models don't have a replaceable filter, and the manuals weren't updated to reflect that fact. I can post a video response if needed.

If you installed a carbon filter your air flow out of the vents may not be as strong as it was before.

Going to a junkyard and get a housing from a model with air filter and place it in my car could be doable, Instead of cutting it?

It is a carbon filter. It is new and it can adsorb odors coming in to the main cabin of the vehicle.

As far as we know, this does not fit a 2000 or 1996 Dodge Caravan. There is a high chance neither of those vehicles have any sort of cabin air filter housing at all.

It would be best to take your car to the dealer and have them cut it open if it is a option. If you do cut open the housing you will then need to buy a housing door that will then need to cover the hole you cut and you should be able to purchase the housing door from the dealer.

@@robertweaver7914 If you are able to make the cut and open up the housing you will be able to clean out debris that has built up in your vents since the car has been manufactured. Having a filter installed will help your cars air flow by making sure that future debris will not be able to move further in your vents and clog them up.

The smell could be coming from something stuck in your cars ventilation system. A good amount of debris could be built up since your vehicle does not have a cabin filter. I have seen nests and hair from pet built up on filters and that can cause a bad odor over time. The smell could be also coming from your carpet. Your dealer might know of a way that they can clean out your ventilation system. You could also vacuum out the car and see if that helps.

Not all Caravan's came with the cabin air filter option.

Everyone is right the dodge and town & country for 2000 & 2001 have filter at bottom as shown. But sorry 2002 to 2007 in a different place. Filter Heads should do a better job of research before stating 2001 to 2007.

I opened up the cover at the wiper blade area and there is no Filter under there. only a sealed unit under the glove box!! so I guess I have to search for the reciepts and return mu filter..grrrr! fuckin Dodge!
