How To Replace An Igniter On A Pellet Grill
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How To Replace An Igniter On A Pellet Grill. Replacing an igniter really is not that hard but it does take a little time fishing the igniter back though the auger cover back to the wire harness. The new Silicon Nitride igniters from Heat Founder are very fast and very efficient! They make igniters for almost every pellet grill brand and model! I was super impressed when I did the test between a standard old Metal Tube Ignition Rod and the Silicon Nitride Igniter! Some of my newer pellet grills already are using this style of pellet grill igniter and that explains why my newer pellet grills fire up so much quicker! I plan to replace the working ignition rods on a couple of my pits after seeing how great these Silicon Nitride igniters work from Heat Founder. Thanks for watching!!

Just ordered mine for my Brunswick. I'm excited. On a side note Pit Boss customer service is fantastic.
you made changing igniters fun to watch! Excellent work Jeff

Hahahahah glad you enjoyed the video Brian!!! Pretty easy to do but the hard part is getting the old one fished through all the dang holes without stripping down the hopper completely!!! ha ha Thanks for watching!!
IF my new igniter for 12 dollars doesn't work, I will be manually starting the smoker like i did this weekend with the Bernzomatic MAP gas torch......the igniter is a convenience item especially when I found I could light this thing manually...great video though
Very good video👍, very good igniter👍. I bought to try two igniters over the summer and I was very impressed with the quick ignition.

Thank you and yes these are very good igniters!! Thanks for watching!!!
Great information Ricer. Nice showing off your "on your back" labor too! 😉If I ever jump on the Pellet Smoker train, I'd probably just change to one of these igniters during initial assembly. I think the pellet cooker manufactures are going to have to start offering these as standard, sooner or later. Looks like a game changer to me... 👍

Ya Grumpus a lot of the higher end models from all brands are using these type of igniters now. So hopefully they start using them in the lower end pellet grills too!! I knew they would be faster but not that fast!! That explains why I do not see as much smoke during the start up on a couple of the newer pits I have. They light up so quick and the fire pot doesn't fill up with as many pellets. Pellet grills are great for convenience!!! Thanks for watching Grumpus!!!!
8 benefits that heat founder invented silicon nitride ignition rod can bring to customers:👍👍👍 1.Fast- Initial startup ignition without a lot of smoke, no choking (apartment buildings can be used without affecting the neighbors) as fast as 90 seconds to ignite. 2.Stable-Good temperature stability -especially in smoke mode. 3. Efficient - Fast response time to compensate for temperature. 4.Professional-Aerospace ignition technology. 5. Clean - easy to clean the fire canister. 6. Energy saving - fast ignition speed. 7. Safety - All ceramic ignition rod is safer. 8. Long life - more than 3 years service life.
Nice video Ricer ! Definitely will be helpful if I get a pellet grill soon. Cheers brother 🍺🥃

Ya George a lot of the new higher end models are using this type of igniter and it only makes sense that they start putting these in all of them!! Thanks for watching brother!!!
I know I was supposed to be watching all that wiring stuff but I was more interested in checking out your tripod and the device holding your cell/timer. This is a great video for the pellet folks. Hmmm, Abba. 😁👍🍻
The new igniter worked well for the first few times on my CampChef PG24, but multiple flameouts after that and two blown fuses. I went back to old igniter and no more problems. YMMV

Very cool Ricer. If I ever revisit my old 070 Treager and it’s hot rod goes out I will definitely roll with one of these. The old hot rod and the waiting game was often pain. The LSG. Not so much. 😂

Heck ya Bobbi!!! I was very impressed in the difference between the two!! Like always thank you for watching!!!
Interesting igniters. I wonder why they don't stick out as much as a normal one. You would think if they did it would end up with an even faster ignition and more consistent results.

It would help but I am still pretty impressed how much faster they are anyways!!! Thanks for watching!!
Great improvement! - I will have a 24" Camp Chef Woodwind Pro as soon as they are available in Canada - Will they come with one of these, or should I plan to order one before assembly? Thanks! - Cheers!

Hmmm Garry good question! I am not sure about Camp Chef but I am sure they have it listed in the specs or you could call Camp Chef's customer service. These are very nice igniters for sure and they do make a difference but I would double check to make sure it is compatible!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Great video! I'm on the fence about buying the Pit Boss 1600 Elite, or the Traeger Ironwood XL. Any thoughts?
@DeadBrokeBBQ
Жыл бұрын
Both are good! It just depends on how much you want to spend. I just did the burn off on the Ironwood tonight. Nice pit and IMO a little nicer than the Elite but costs a lot more and the Elite you can grill on easier. Thanks for watching but sounds like you need to just flip a coin!!!
@deadbrokebbq Awesome video. Out of curiosity does the controller go into smoke mode faster after shaving off 3 minutes from the ignition cycle? I wonder if the minimal ignition time is fixed in the controller.
@DeadBrokeBBQ

Not really sure but I have used that grill since I filmed this and it still smokes decent in smoke mode. I have actually changed out the igniters on the other 2 pits I showed in the video. The Pit Boss sportsman and the Traeger Pro 22, both of these are running the same as they did prior as far as I can tell. Thanks for watching!!!
nice Info!

Hahahahaha so true brother!!!!! Thanks for watching!!!! Ya I still forgot your first name-----ugh!!!! sorry but I am showing my age still!!!
Feel like 3 minutes difference for a 10 hour smoke doesn't justify the cost to me. If it lasts 4x as long however, that reliability would be very helpful. My replacement (standard) igniter went out this weekend after only 6 months. $40 is worth trying a tougher alternative. Thanks for taking the plunge and comparing the two.

Great video i have a trail embers pellet smoker hot rod isn't working auger motor isn't working and it has ERR CODE says temp probe im wondering if fuse could be blown but don't where to look for it any help would be greatly appreciated

Hmmmm sounds like a fuse but I am not sure where it is located. Call customer service. Good luck!
just had to do this, and purchased the stock igniter. I like the look of this new one you're testing there, but i am not sure if saving 3 mins is worth 50 bucks versus 10 bucks for 2 of the others. I do like the longevity rating of that igniter though. 100,000 cycles sounds good. I am wondering what the MTBF of the stock igniter is.

Not ever having to change it out again, makes it worth it to me!! The reason why I showed how fast it ignited was to show how efficient they work. Most new pellet grills are switching over to this style of igniter because of all the complaints from most people having to change them out. Thanks for watching!!!

@@DeadBrokeBBQ yeah I noticed the change recently. I’ll have to keep looking out for them to see if the price drops. Having to wait 8-10 mins just for it to start up sucks.

Yes I will be! Not sure when it will be here but Pit Boss sent me a confirmation today actually that they are sending me one! I am looking forward to getting that pit fired up!! Thanks for watching!!
It looks like the same type of ignitor as i have on my gas oven. I would be really concerned with it being to fragile to hold up long term.
