    I want to say thank you for making this video. I have just successfully completed the clutch replacement on my 4 cylinder 2015 Tacoma. Without your video I probably would have been too intimidated to attempt it myself. Worth mentioning for anyone else considering this on a 4 cylinder: You will absolutely have to remove the fan shroud and fan blade. The clearance is too small because the 4 cylinder engine sticks out further than the v6 (4 in a row is a whole cylinder longer than two rows of 3, and it makes it only a couple inches to work with). Once the fan shroud/blade is removed, you have plenty of working room. Beware of the fan clutch nuts, they round easily. I had to chisel mine off and replace them with M8x1.5 flanged nuts. Thanks again for this incredible video. Cold A/C!

    Thanks for the video. Big help. I got my clutch off eBay for less than $50. I will say this job is doable with patience. However, borrow or invest in HIGH quality snap ring pliers. I used the straight pliers and able to maneuver handles into fan housing to access rings straight on. Thanks again.

    I sure thank you for this video. I had never changed out a compressor clutch and this helped tremendously. When I removed the bolt, my compressor was seized on but after a little PB blaster, I was able to grab it with a filter wrench and coax it off finally. I did remove my radiator shroud and fan but it wasn’t really necessary. Thanks again for this video. It saved me a ton of money!

    Just successfully finished this job on my truck after 155k. Getting the inner clip off is a pain, but getting it back on had me about to give up and toe the truck. I solved the problem, after some brainstorming, by designing a 3d printed tube to go over the compressor shaft (42mm) and fit snuggly and stayed centered over the smaller part of the shaft (35.8mm). You then put the spring clip on the tube, slide the tube over the shaft, and put the clip down into its groove with a screwdriver. Tube was: ID 35.8mm OD 44mm I have the STL file if anyone needs it, but it’s a very simple tube to make in CAD

    I tried this process but my pulley was stuck. My problem really was the clutch, the welds broke loose from the clutch plate where it attaches to the center splined hub. So after considering my options, I opt'd to just replace the clutch with shims and that fixed the problem. Great Video though, it definitely helped my confidence level to do it myself.

    I changed the clutch in my 2000 Tacoma with 107k miles. It belonged to my dad who rarely drove it. When I installed the new pulley, it was hard to turn. I noticed you gave your new pulley a spin after you installed it. Why do you think my pulley is hard to turn without the belt attached?

    Your awesome kid! I could NOT do all that, you made it look easy! So, AC green light on my 2016 all of a sudden offs off, after 5 seconds of truck running so i was told 1. check for relay switch (MG by battery) $18 then if that's not it 2. could be a blown or burnt wiring located under glove box, just needs new wiring under there where the white wire is all burnt or turned yellowish. Then could be what you fixed but that for us is expensive and labor. Ugh. (2016 4x4 sport) AC worked on the way to pick up my son then when we got back in the truck, the AC blew warm air and I checked and the AC button green light was NOT engaged so I knew something was wrong right there, I never turn off that AC button. Hoping its the relay.

    Nope! Was hoping it was just the Relay and it wasn’t. Just changed that relay and AC keeps turning off. When it runs and I push the AC button, I can hear a small sound, not a Louth stretch but a mild screeching sound, maybe that’s the sound it makes when the compressor on the inside refuses to spin as it should??? Insight??

  • @ballsoutperformance

    @ballsoutperformance

    Жыл бұрын

    Thats very possible. The compressor has whats essentially a speed sensor on it. So if you try to engage it via the a/c button, and the compressor doesnt spin, the computer knows theres a problem, and shuts it down. If you try to engage it and hear a screech, the compressor may be locked up, and the screech is the belt slipping on the pulley once the ac clutch locks in. Its hard to diagnose 100% without seeing it

    You need to watch it while someone engages the switch from the inside. It should be on first start up, have them engage the switch and watch the compressor/clutch and see what it does. As soon as it senses a problem, it shits power to the compressor, so you have to be watching while someone presses the button on the initial start up
