Did you put oil back in the pump? Is anything getting hot?
FANTASTIC JOB..... DO YOU KNOW IF IS POSSIBLE ON 951 XP 2002, OPEN THE CRIMPED POINT OF THE STERING CABLE? IT IS A LITTLE HARD IN 1 POINT TANKS. DO YOU CAN MAKE A VIDEO

No that will destroy it. You can get a cable luber that might help BUT your best bet is to replace the steering cable

How do you know when it needs oil?

It's not a bad idea.Every few years to drain it and put new oil. But it's a sealed system, so in theory, as long as it's not leaking, it's still there.
