Yes, keep the details. If someone doesn't need that much detail, they can always fast forward. 👍🏻

Keep the details. One thing tho', sometimes you use fast forward, and fast talking, during the actual fastening and connecting, which makes it hard to follow. I know you're trying to make the vid shorter, and ffwd is good, but some things need to be at normal speed to see what you're doing. So be aware of that when you're editing the video.
Yes, please keep the details. You gave a perfect explanation on the installation. I’m a complete amateur, and your details are extremely helpful. Thank you.
Regardless of anyone's experience, it's always good to have a refresher of information. Excellent video.

The amount of detail you have in your videos is great. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing this if you didn’t have this level of detail.

Great, thanks for the feedback!
Please don’t stop the details, it gives clarity, direction and options when deciding what to look for and buy at the hardware stores. Thank you!
I watched 10 of these videos from different experts but yours was the only one to talk about a fan rated box. This is for a new build done in 2020 so I now know what to look for. Great job.
I agree, keep all of the detailed information. Those time stamps are nice too. And thank you so much for producing this kind of content! I subscribed a long time ago because you are very good at delivering the information in a clear, easy to understand manner. You are easy to listen to and I can find exactly what I am looking for by just going directly to your channel. I don’t have to hunt and peck through endless other videos.
keep the details and the honesty(led vs separate light fixtures in fans)!
Yes. Please keep all these types of details. I just told my husband I'm loving this video, and how detailed and informative you are being.
You used the correct mounting bracket. However, the ROUND shaft and turning with your hand makes it difficult for the metal spikes to dig into the ceiling joists for maximum holding power. I have seen similar bracket with the shaft shaped like a hex (not round) in order for a wrench to securely fit onto the hex shaft and properly outstretch the metal spikes. Great video.

Totally agree. I winced when he said he had to hand tighten it. No possible way that will be as secure as something tightened with a tool.

You need to be careful though. I had one with a hex and I easily over tightened it and the joists moved enough to pop a few drywall screws. You should really only do it by hand

That bracket does not seem safe at all. I would not trust hand tightening spikes into the trusses. Why not also screw those side plates to the trusses?
That kind of detail is very helpful. Talking through the options for what is right, and what is often seen that might be wrong is really helpful because we can then understand the wall of options at the hardware store.
I will probably never do this job but enjoy your teaching style. You are extremely thorough and easy to understand. That's why I watch your videos.
Just bought the same exact ceiling fan from Lowe's and will be attempting to install it using the same old work brace. Really appreciate this video and the level of detail you took the time to go into. This channel and This Old House have really come in handy over the past 3 years of being a new homeowner!
Thank you I need all the details I’m a serious amateur

Thanks for the feedback 🙌
I'm looking to replace a small ceiling light with a fan in my office and I love the amount of detail you went into for the electrical boxes. I think of myself as fairly competent, but this isn't my wheel house, so something you point out could be something I would have never thought of. Appreciate the work you put into your videos
Last year when we moved into our new home I did 7 ceiling fans. Two of them replaced lights but I was able to use new work boxes from the attic. The most astonishing part was the variety of boxes and screws that the builder used on the original 5 fans. Everyone was a new type of jank.
I really appreciated the details about the different electrical boxes. For a lot of jobs, finding the right supplies to buy is the hardest part.
This video tutorial was PERFECT, I work with my dad in hvac so I’m limited on electrical knowledge so I appreciate the explanation on the mounts, as I’m installing a ceiling fan in my house this weekend.
I like having the extra install details. Haven't put up one of those old work brackets in over 20 years so it's nice to see if this is still the way to go and I'm doing it correctly. Thanks!!
All the extra detail helps me so much, I have anxiety about projects but always want to prepare myself as best as I can. Having the extra information helps me feel better informed about if I can diy or if I really need to hire out the job. I'm going to attempt this job soon & I feel moderately confident and well informed because of this video. Thank you!
👍👍😎✌️🤟 Well, done! Finally someone has the whole process done correctly for attaching a heavy ceiling fan so someone doesn’t eventually get hurt or killed! Congratulations.
The Hunter fans are great, I've had problem-free operation of them for many years in my rental property. You definitely want to spend at least $100 on a ceiling fan. The low-cost lightweight ones easily get out of balance, often hum as they operate, and are just junky. You really get what you pay for!
I enjoy the deeper explanations. I am already pretty confident in my know-HOW for most DIY projects, having grown up in a family of carpenters, general contractors, and handy-men, but I also like to know WHY. Many times when I was learning these things growing up on and around job sites, I was shown how to do them but never told why.
Yes, please keep the details coming! As a novice DIYer, I appreciate the additional information you provide.
As a beginner (ZERO knowledge) the greater the details the better. Thank you for your contents.
Yes, the details are appreciated. Also appreciate showing any mistakes (if they happen) and how they were rectified. Excellent videos all around. Thanks
I appreciate the detail and the time stamps. Many DIY videos leave out important details, which can end up being costly and more time-consuming.
Love the details! I also love the options and the "chapters" so I can move around to different sections of the video! THANK YOU!!!! I was going to install a small ceiling fan in my aunt's guest bedroom and I removed the light fixture and the electrical box was just freely hanging in the ceiling. Not mounted to ANYTHING! This video was VERY HELPFUL!!! Thanks!
I've been doing electrical and other home improvements for years but I can always learn something new 😁 I love how you include ALL the different steps and hints for installation of items 😁 keep up the good work 😁
I enjoy the details. Most people have not been taught or looked at electrical code nor will they when attempting this sort of process unless they have had an issue in the past. This could save someone a lot of pain from a fan or light fixture falling from the ceiling.
Hunter has a fantastic KZread channel that does a step by step on how to install one of their fans. That's what I used to install mine. Works great!
Yes. Having detailed info. Is extremely important me. I just installed my 1st fan/light replacement However today I'm replacing light w/fan/light and I bought the same t bar that you used
Thank you for being kind enough to provide all the details.
Yes, definitely keep the details. It's great information to have if you are doing a project that you have not done before. Thank you!

I just found your videos. The added knowledge is important and so appreciated. A lot of people want quick/short videos, but some things shouldn't be rushed. You are educating us from start to finish, and we're here for it!!! I am so happy I found your content.
I think the more detail the better, it makes this accessible to everyone not just those blessed with common sense.
The amount of detail is appreciated.
Yes, please keep the details along with the explanation that you provided. Audiences fall into different categories; someone starting new will always need those details. An experienced one can skip those details and move to the relevant section if he wishes. You are very helpful to DIY community and helping people save some money.
Feedback: I love how you went into detail on how to use the bracket, I was confused and this video helped me with my first install. I went to Home Depot to play around with a bracket there and thanks to your video it was a piece of cake
The details are really helpful. I need to reinstall some ceiling fans that the previous owner didn't do right but i didn't know where to start, this helps immensely.
Yes, like the additional. After all, it's very important and in need of consideration to those who may not know about using correct boxes. By the way, really enjoy your channel, keep up the good work! 😊
The details are what set you apart from all the others. Well done!
I agree with many of the comments. Excellent presentation, and explanation on this. Those Southwire smart boxes are game changers for anyone wanting to do electrical work without having to repair drywall. I used a 3-gang smartbox in my hallway to merge a 2-gang, and single gang into one box. They're incredibly easy to install, and very versatile because they bridge that gap between new work, and old work. I'm planning to do a very similar project in one of my pantries, but it's a loose old work box that just isn't agreeing with the drywall it's attached to. Thankfully I have attic access so for me, I can install a metal new work box, and be done with it. Normally I'd use a plastic Carlon, but it's a pull chain light fixture, and that's why I had to replace the box in the first place. The previous house owners must have been yanking on that chain like it owed them money because the screw posts had broken completely off from the box. The only thing holding that fixture up was the Romex. Suffice it to say I fixed it with an old work box, but for that application it just isn't working. Thank you for explaining things in detail, and THANK YOU for the Wago 221 link. I never know which ones to buy so I haven't bought them yet.

Yes! Details are awesome. I am an accountant by trade, so getting all this detail is amazingly helpful!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!!!
very informative. Yes please do give the information that you gave about the 4 different types of fixtures. Its extremely important to ensure no accidents happen. THANKS A BUNCH.

Perfect amount of detail!!
I was really nice to get an informed overview of option categories; thank you!

This is exactly the details I needed to see. Thank you.
Yes the details are important for those of us looking to do this for the first time! Thanks so much it was very helpful and informative. I am doing it for the first time so the extra details were super helpful.
Hi. You can never have too much information. Thank you for your guidance!
You hit all but one salient point. Fan sizing for a room. Most manufacturers and some local codes recommend a minimum distance of 30" from tip of fan blade to the nearest wall. Details are awesome. Great vid 👍
Yes please give the extra information for us that don't have a good basic knowledge. If you have a good basic knowledge you can skip ahead. Rule of thumb: it's better to have to much and not need it. Then to need it and not have it. I always appreciate that you really help us beginner DYI'ers
All the details + chapter selection is the best solution for everyone.

Love (and appreciate) the level of detail
I appreciate you showing and explaining that much detail so that when I go to the store I know exactly what I am looking for and why and not just "oh think kinda looks like what they used in the video". If someone wants to just to the instalation they can do that with the chapters

I personally love the details. They can easily be skipped those not in need of them or viewed by those who need/want them. For people like me that grew up without a dad in the home I learned a lot from YT videos after purchasing our first home 13 years go and like to learn why in addition to how.
