This is exactly why I love your channel. So many tasks aren’t difficult once you know the “secrets.” If I lived near you, your shop would get my business, not that I couldn’t do some of the work, but you are set up for it and can knock it out so much faster. Unfortunately, shops like yours aren’t always available. Thanks!
Awesommmmmmme!!!!!!! Echo got smart and offers oversized bar studs for folks that strip out the engine case.

Excellent advice. The repair worked just like she said.
Came across this video as I have to replace 2 bar studs on my Echo 590 - great video instructions, thank you...
Never broke one but sure glad you showed this. A whole lot easier than it looked. Thanks
That was informative! I have one of those endoscopes, picked it up about 6 years ago and it looks exactly like the one you have. I paid $18 and it has been well worth that many times over. Gun bores ( cracked barrel would've wasted $350 ) to going over to a friends house to figure out the stud configuration right where his shower/tub started. No way we could've figured it out without taking 18" of small tile and replacing drywall ( Saved him at least $150 if we could find the replacement tile that matched ). Plus many more uses.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have stripped both my bolt out of my echo 620p and was told by a mechanic it would need to be taken apart and the motor disassembled. I’ve got the new parts on the way and will be tackling this when they arrive in the mail. Thanks again, you just got a new subscriber.
Thanks. I already Have the scope. Our Local Marshall Saw me Using mine, When I was checking The door on a customers truck for wiring issues. He had to have one. So I bought one for our Law enforcement. Saved them on some Issues. LOL They are a Great tool!
Super informative . I had no idea how those went in . Thank you for sharing !!!
I think it's COOL that a Lady actually is working on chainsaws, that's NOTS always clean and spotless. Awesome job, keep getting after it and work safe. Great job!
I had a loose bar stud on the Stihl 025 that I restored a few months ago. It only had a few threads left in the hole, so I cleaned the hole out good with break cleaner and my air compressor. I then cleaned off the new bar stud to remove any oil. I then mixed up a little JB Weld and coated the inside of the bolt hole with it. I then screwed the new bolt stud in the hole until some of the JB Weld oozed out. I would remove it after it set. I then let the saw sit in a warm place for 24 hours. I have had no problem with it since. I do not tighten this stud as tight as I do the rear stud but Itighten it enough to hold the bar in place. Gorillas are the reason these bar studs get damaged or loose in their holes. I never tighten bar nuts like some folks do. I tighten them tight but not so tight I can’t remove them.
Very informative video as with all of chickanic videos detailed instructions great camera work proper Audio. For us old folks who abused their hearing when we were young. Keep up the good work an keep em coming!!!!

I have a high dollar endoscope, I’m a locksmith and comes home n very handy for safe openings. Going to get one of those long hemostats my longest is nine inch.
Never replaced one before. Thanks for the tutorial.
That was very cool how easy you did that!!! I my self run stihl chain saws but that also is very nice to know I have never broke one of those studs but first time for everything. Thank you again and God Bless keep up the good work.
Learned something I didn't know. Thanks. If I ever have one break now I know how to repair it! Thumbs Up!
Thanks for the information on this repair! You make it all look so easy... 😃
If you don't have enough washers or don't have the right size, you can use a short socket under the nut to help pull the stud out into place.
Super tip on the Echo - it goes in the book 😃
Sweet! This old guy learned something new today. Thank you.
You are awesome fixing to have to change a stud on my echo I was screwed you helped alot thanks
Hey Girl, another great video. I have never had to replace a bar stud but i now know how to.. 🚜😊 Love your work.

Just wait for the next time u need stitches then insist they give them to u. You pay for them
Another awesome video about repairing chain saw
This is exactly the reason why scrench handles aren’t very long and don’t give you that much leverage. The nuts don’t need to be super tight to do their job. Using an impact or large ratchet WILL shear them off. Just use a scrench and snug them up. It’s not a lug nut so don’t kill it!
Thank you. Big help with that echo.
A little white paint on the stud to index it will help you keep it lined up. Can also use a piece of fishing line or strong string, tied to stud threads when knocking through, can be used to pull new stud back through the hole.
I love learning tips. This was great....
I like your videos. You know your stuff!!!
Great job I had a customer Crack the case to install bar stud. I'm sending him this video, so easy a girl can do it.. lol..thanks

Another super useful vid, thanks
If your NEW bar stud was a little lose like mine was, I tapped it back into the oil tank and extracted it and put a thin film of loctite on it and reinstalled it very carefully and then put a spacer in place ---tightened it up --- and let it sit while the loctite set up ! !! THEN i put everything back together !!
I used to use a 2 mm thick wire, place it in the hole and position it and tap with a rod through the bar oil cap.🙂🙂🙂
Great to see it, the stihl chainsaw is much easier.
Had an individual tell me I needed to check out your bar stud installation vid. They left a comment on mine vid installing studs on a 390xp.
Well now that was a interesting video and I always wonder how to get those studs out of my sthil chainsaw and now I know, but I have never had any problem with them so far.
Fantastic!!! You are the very first I e ever subscribed to!! Very helpful!!!

Thank you well done

Glad I have a stihl in the event I ever brake one!
Great content as usual.
Great video, thanks for this! 🙏🏻
Excellent video
Wow, thank so much for sharing your time and experience. The bar bolts on my ECHO CS-620 are stripped. Went straight into tear down mode with all the star bolts removed. When that didn’t work. I Thought, for sure I had to either take into a dealer or find away to split the case. You’re AWSOME, you saved me many hard aches. Again, thank you so much.😀
Hey Chickanic, you ever thought about your own t.v. show on the DIY channel? I feel very sure it'll do real well, you really are a master of your craft.
good information video chickanic 👍
love your videos
Thank you, ma'am!
Great video!👍🏻
Stihl bar studs have locktite on them and it fights you to the end. I suggest that you chase the threads with a tap to clean the old locktite.
You are way better than football......
Great video. Thanks. I'm Assuming the bolt next to it is mounted the same way. Mine is stripped so any comment would be appreciated. Thanks
Good job👍
Nice work Bre
Great job bre good video to save money 💰

With All Those Numbers Rattling Off I Was Ready To Shout Bingo ! Haha Some Pretty Low Torque On Those Bars But Using A Torque Wrench ( i use one ) Might Seem A Bit Overboard But Worth It Versus Breakage And Downtime Thanks Chickanic For The Info On The Replacement Procedure If Ever It Happens Now I Know How To Repair It

check out time serts kits best thread ever they are sleeve design bottom thread are cold rolled that the install tool spreads these incomplete threads locking the Timesert in . You can also put sealer it loctite on the outer threads before the install.

Could you do a segment on hooking up a choke cable on a 8 hr.power snapper riding mower please.
Thank you for this informative video. I have this very problem on my Echo CS-4400 chain saw. I just order the hemostat. Is the snake camera necessary for this, or just helpful? Thanks again.
Now as a total ignoramus , I was impressed as to how the old stud just dropped out, but how did you get the new one in place ? Did I miss something. Did you push fishing line thru and put the stud into place ? I guess I need to re watch again, but great job . Ahhh used those long pliers, now that’s even more impressive.
Oke mantap bro 👍👍
At 6:00 when you had that borescope going into the fill hole on the oil tank I had images in my mind of a colonostimy. It was uncomfortable 😫 just watching, and I've never even had one. But it's like Charlie told Alan Harper, "Don't whine, in the old days they'd have to sent a sketch artist up there".
I have a Husqvarna 435 and the stud disappeared after I took the nut off. I thought it fell out but could not find it. Wouldn't you know it fell inside the oil tank. What I don't understand is why they made it this way. Now I need to put it back in place. I would suggest putting some Loctite on the stud to make sure it doesn't fall out and also putting a chisel on the stud and giving it several small hits to make it more secure before putting the Loctite on the bolt.
Learning has occurred!!
totally bought that endoscope based on your recommendation. do i need it? no
broken bar studs--- if you pick them up make sure they buy you drinks first. lol

Gah chicah 2 lives I've missed now. I have my notifications on, and my buddies get them.
Love your video's! If a McCulloch 7-38 chain stud is coming through the casing, is there a cure for this problem or is it a new casing?
Stihl makes over sized thread also
Great information! I have never had to replace one yet, but great to know. But what seals the one that goes through the oil tank?
@Chickanic

Just the bolt itself, so it’s not something you want to be a problem often. It will wear out the hole.

@@Chickanic I was just curious, I have a Stihl myself.
@Chickanic >>> How often do those _bar studs_ break? I ask because I was wondering if it would be worth it to change BOTH bar studs at the same time, even if only one is damaged? Especially on a chainsaw that has seen quite a bit of use?
For the record, Poulan is pronounced like Poland. I learned this by reading an article interviewing a member of the Poulan family.
A Chickanic who is sensitive to our football season needs. 💖 Haha!
Can you get the sprocket cap separately for Makita chainsaws
I have an old Sachs Dolmar chainsaw that I changed the bar stud in. The threads in the case thread up but when I put pressure on the connection with the bar the stud pops out. Any suggestions on fixing this?
Good video. You are much more educational and alot less woke than football. I chose to watch your videos
