How To: Repairing a Broken Balance Staff on Hamilton 1937

Ойын-сауық

Hamilton watch company is an American company founded 1892 in Lancaster Pennsylvania, USA.
This particular watch movement belongs to a pocket watch. The movement is equipped with 17 jewels. That's why the calibre number is 917. There were also high grade movements equipped with 21 (calibre 921) or 23 (calibre 923) jewels. These were mostly used in gold pocket watches.
This particular movement is so to say the bread and butter movement. It was used in pocket watches which were mostly gold plated. Someone has put this movement in a wristwatch case with a pilot dial. Which is really beautiful. This movement is from 1937-1938. The case is modern and house this movement beautifully.
It has a broken balance staff. It was not easy to find a replacement. The first balance staff I ordered was the wrong size and not useable, the second one finally worked.
Enjoy the video 😊

Another great video: thank you so much. The Nato strap looks cool, but it makes the beauty of the movement less visible, which is a pity.

Nice! I still have my great grandfather Hamilton 912 pocket watch from 1932. Still very clean on the inside and looks very close to that one. Runs very well, too. Thanks for the video!

Isn't risky to hammer down the double roller, i nover seen someone hammer down just hard pushed with the stakes, or this type of movement required hammering down ? I mean if the double roller craks you'll develop beat error . I'm not criticising just curious. Great work btw😁
