shitty how people find a electronic device and asume owner dont want it back, if someone found my old shoe or my parents old photo album of me you or them etc full of family memories black white etc randomly they would throw it wayside or use for fill material or fire. but not if is potential cash.!!! just give the damn thing back to the owner if posible there is hundreds of lost and found ways.

Exactly I hate dumbest comments like this. My grandmother died and couldn't figure out how to wipe her phone. Now we can use it.

I'm not using a lock screen password but Encryption is turned on in Security under Settings on my Android phone. I may have accidentally turned it on as I was looking at things in the Security section for the heck of it. I can't turn it off. Is it true on newer Androids it is already set to on? It didn't start going through any processing thing just now but I'm worried if I turn off my phone and back on again I won't have access to my phone. Since I didn't set any lock screen password can I still access my phone with Encryption being on?Again I don't know if I just now turned Encryption on but I can't turn it off. I wish I hadn't looked at the security section as I think I accidentally turned it on but don't know if it already was on. Again I'm worried I won't be able to get back into my phone even if I didn't set a password and lockscreen with Encryption being on. Please help.

My phone displayed this screen after randomly restarting. Luckily all I had to do was restart the phone again, but still that shit was kind of scary.

This popped up on my phone, scared the shit out of me because I never set a password, and then disappeared when I restarted. So... pro tip, try restarting your phone first before deleting _everything._

This happened to my wife's samsung j7 pro. It didn't restart itself tho, it was laggy, she restarted it and it went to that message. She had no clue what the pw was, so we tried the thing in this vid

Was that an encrypted phone that was hard reset? Android doesn't ask for gmail account that the phone was previously setup with?

I lost my phone a few days back, it was the first time I have ever lost my phone. My phone was enrcypted too but now that I think about it, seems pointless if the person who took my phone can reset the phone and use it for themselves or sell it. Such a shame.

Non.. you only able to decrypt it with password or ask the company that developt this system how it they made it. encryption is military grade security system..

If You have password, You login to Your phone, and turn off encryption. No data loss, simple as that.

Works same way just push in the button under volume key instead of home button

That's the issue I had to solve originally. Solved the OS problem. It now still has control of the lock screen, which is what I'm watching this for. I'd rather not have to factory reset though. Any luck on your end?
