I know this isn't very helpful afterwards lol but when I realize that I'm wearing a certain pair of jeans a lot I immediately use iron on patches on the inner thighs. You can also do this when you first notice the material thinning before a hole forms!

  • @TheLadyMoniqe

Using a patch of fabric similar to the colour of the jeans on the inside and sewing over it in all directions with a jean-coloured thread works for me. You can look up how to darn jeans on YT. I also find that jeans with a topstitch on the inner seam last longer. In the end, the holes on the inner thigh are kind of inevitable so I just try to buy decent quality jeans and not wear them when I'm at home. And if they rip, darning lets me wear them for a little while longer, I just have to be more careful about not ripping them.

  • @spiceandmice9135

as another option if denim patches aren't around, you could get double-sided fusible interfacing at a fabric store (if I did this, I would cut the interfacing in a donut, so that the ripped part did not touch the interfacing, then sandwich it between the denim and the patch, then iron, but you could just do the sandwich without cutting a hole in the interfacing). There are also ways to do invisible (on the outside) stitches, or you could try fabric glue spread (very!) thin.

Love your iron Kelsey! Great to see you do some cool stitching! That's what I did back in the 70's and also alot of patching for my son when he was little in the 90's! For your last repair to reinforce it, you could do a button hole stitch all around the big hole. It will keep it stronger and from fraying less and coming apart again!😀💖👖

I repair and alter clothes for a living. What I do if use iron on interfacing on the back, rounded corners. (Like the first one here) I like to make it past the hole at least a half inch around to prevent further ripping. Then I darn the good side with a sewing machine. I blend in the stitches with an exact colour match. (Always go darker rather than lighter if no exact match.) I make sure the lines of stitching are long enough to go past the interfacing a little to prevent lifting. The results are pretty good. All these methods listed are good for a no machine fix. But if you have one, I suggest trying this way as it prevents bulk, but keeps it strong.
