HOW TO REPAIR DEEP CAR PAINT SCRATCH LIKE A PRO
If you have deep scratch on your car and you are trying to repair the scratch so it is not noticeable this is the right video. In this video we will demonstrate how to repair deep car scratch and make it not visible. We demonstrated on a car that got either keyed or the scratch was caused by a shopping cart. As you can see with the touch up paint you were not able to see the scratch anymore. You cannot just expect a scratch to be filled it. You will have to blend it and polish it so it is not visible.

Still very visible, and that was in spite of the straight on angle you filmed to make it look good- you needed to apply more paint after levelling the first time. The idea is to build up the paint in the scratch so it is proud of the original finish then sand back, clear coat and polish. Also you should have used tape to localise the sanding area to only a 1/2 inch either side of the scratch and use a suitable sanding block to fit only that area. All in all a pretty woeful job for professionals...

  • @NINJUTSUguy

Ok, the key is to fil the scratch so that it can be sanded dead flat it looks like you have sanded the high spots but neglected to fill in all the low spots that's why it is so easy to see, you do not have a flat surface where the scratch was! So in my opinion, if someone took the time to slowly build-up the scratched area so that it was slightly higher than the original paint surface and then carefully sanded the area until completely flat and then begun to cut polish and after that buff using the last compound to create a good shine the scratch would have been much more difficult to see and a reasonable result could be achieved from that product. Although this is far from how a professional would go about fixing a scratch like this, the product is a DIY alternative for home use.

The end result looks fantastic for a ''touch up'' without a respray that's exactly what this is. What do people expect a flawless finish it's not going to happen with a touch up no matter how good the detailer or technician is. I'm supprised by all the negative comments as this scratch seems to look better than larry's of ammo nyc when he did the mercedes G55 key scratch. This repair makes the scratch less noticeable and is a major improvement, not everyone has hundreds spare to pay a shop to repray the panel.

@@mattlawton4715 don't be stupid. the application and preparation was poorly done. The guy had the right idea, fill it, sand it, and polish however didn't do it good enough. You need to FILL the indent. Imagine the shape "U" in a 3D space. That indent needs to be filled, and extend horizontally past the surface (the 2 lines going vertically). Once higher, you then sand down so make everything level and finally polish to remove sandpaper marks.... The scratch still being visible represents a "W" in 3D space. Some has been filled in to the surface, but some also hasn't.. hence why the "indent" is still shown in some places. The repair could've been done MUCH better had a little more time and care been taken. The principle is correct, however the application is not. Look up ChrisFix repair deep scratches or LegitStreetCars fixing paint for $80 alpina b7 Both videos use this exact process, but with more finesse and attention to detail and the results show it.

I see a lot of bad comments on this video. 1. he is showing you how to repair a scratch with a scratch repair pen 2. If you watch to the end it was a beautiful job. 3. I followed his instructions on an old 2003 Ford Explorer that was keyed when previously owned. I did not do as much wet sanding as him I did wet sand to level out touch up paint and clearcoat and it looks great. Like I said it is an old car it looks much better than the scratches that were there. Barely noticeable.

  • @scottfirman

I read that a straight razor blade should be used after painting. Also, when paint is scratched, it leaves a hump on eather side of the scratch. Using a razor blade flat against the panel levels the hump before actually using the paint. He already stated you cannot completely hide the damage to that panel. Its impossible to blend after market paint into factory paint. Even body shops have problems completely matching factory paints. The best they can do is redo the entire panel or blend the new paint into the old. I was quoted $500 to repair a scratched rear panel on our Subaru because they told me the entire panel had to be repainted, not patched in. I understand that part. Black and dark paint is the hardest to fix people. Yeah, it still shows, period. The right way to fix it as like I said. The owner probably said no.
