How to repair damaged laminate flooring.

*www.americantechnologiesinc.com has been rebranded to www.colorkam.com
Laminate floor repair / filler, compatible with all High Pressure Laminate (HPL) flooring. FloorFil cures to a hard, inert plastic and will resist household detergents used for floor cleaning. FloorFil can be color matched to any HPL floor solid, color or pattern. Typical applications for this product are repairing surface damage caused by tools or any heavy, sharp object accidentally dropped on the floor surface. FloorFil can also be used to successfully repair damaged edges and broken corners.

  • @Kampelent

    @Kampelent

    8 жыл бұрын

    Hey Stephen! Thanks so much for your inquiry, how deep are the scuffs? The reason we ask is that if they are deep enough to go into the substrate of the laminate then FloorFil may be a good solution for you. However if they are just surface scuffs and not through the laminate itself you may be able to remove them through some other means. I would look up on youtube "how to buff out scuffs in laminate flooring" or something along those lines if that is the case. Let us know if you have any further questions or how we can help. Thanks!

If your burn is smaller than that and the substrate from the laminate is exposed our product may work. However if it is larger damage you may have to find another solution. Hi Spreadwings and thanks for the great question. Without having a sample in house of the Newport Mahogany there is no way for us to know if it's close to Wilsonart's Windsor Mahogany. To answer up your follow up question that is up to you. We are able to custom match a sample if you send it in, however there is one time mix charge. It would be a risk to to hope for the best but the colors may be close. Please let me know if you have any further questions as I'd be happy to help. Have a great day!

  • @Kampelent

    Hi Jack and thanks for the question. It all depends on the depth of the marks. If the marks or scratches are deep enough that the wooden substrate is exposed then the FloorFil will have something to bond to and will work. If it is only a slight surface scratch our product will not work. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to call 1-800-837-4971 and our customer service rep would be happy to answer any questions you have. Have a great day!

  • @Kampelent

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hello and good question. FloorFill is not an adhesive like a glue however it does strongly adhere to the substrate of the laminate and will not come out. Once the FloorFil dries it is as hard as your original floor and will resist foot traffic and typical household cleaners. If you want to purchase FloorFil visit www.americantechnologyinc.com. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact our customer support at 1-800-837-4971.

  • @Kampelent

    @Kampelent

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Dean Char Thank you so much for your inquiry about repairing your linoleum. Both our SeamFil and FloorFil products are designed to repair deeper scratches in Laminate that are no larger that 1/4 inch wide. With that being said there have been stories of success using both products on vinyl and linoleum flooring. We DO NOT recommend using either product to attempt such repairs due to the solvents in the product which has the potential to melt linoleum or vinyl flooring. I have informed our customer service rep of your inquiry so if you would like more details about making a repair as you mentioned call 1 (800) 837-4971 and we would be more than happy to answer your questions. It doesn’t look very good. Proper way of doing it is to melt wax and keep working it in using blow dryer to help it liquify it then it turns hard after, use putty knife to to take out axes wax, might have to do it more the. Once but once it’s surfaced then you use polished nail hardener to finish it off and it will feel smooth and not show the chip marks around the edges

    Hi I have laminate flooring and need help. I purchased it 2 years ago so it was nice and shiny. Then I had a visitor that brought a dog with fleas. I had to use a Flea Fogger in my home. 3 cans in each different areas of my home. Little that I knew about covering my flooring with plastic! The fogger left a heavy smoky residue on my flooring that's an eye sore. I tried using a simple liquid floor cleaner to paint remover for wood flooring and doesn't work! Any suggestions?

    Hi David! Thanks for the feedback. Our goal is to show how to do a quick and easy repair to a high pressure laminate flooring. It may not look perfect but it does cover up the substrate that is below and is a bit more obvious then our repair. One of the challenges we often face and have yet to find an easy solution is any patterned HPL flooring is hard to match and create a "perfect repair" due to the grain or patterns in the laminate. Our product is single color and will always show due to the contrast between the pattern and our solid color. Again thank you so much for your feedback and have a great day!

    Hi, I've got a laminate wood floor and some of the floor have warped and swelled due to moisture(I spilled a lot of water on them). You can notice the warped planks when walking over them and it's quite annoying. Just wondering is it possibly to sand the affected parts of the warped planks gently with sand paper in order to level the surface? Or do I risk damaging the planks permanently? Thanks

  • @Kampelent

    @Kampelent

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hello Segoviate, Thank you so much for the question and I'm sorry to hear that you spilled water on the floor. I'm not sure how familiar you are with laminate flooring so I apologize if I'm reiterating information you already know. Laminate is often a laminated pattern over a wooden substrate. The pattern is often very thin and I fear if you gently sand the planks it will reveal the wood substrate beneath it. Unfortunately the best solution for that kind of damage is likely replacing the planks. Sorry I cannot be of more help and have a great day!

It's about 6 to 8 planks that need to be replaced. Just wondering do you have any advice regarding this problem? Do you have any of the planks leftover after the original installation? We are starting to get into territory that I am not super familiar with so I will offer the best advice I can. With that being said I would recommend going to your local store that sells laminate flooring and take a small piece or your laminate floor. Often they have samples that you could compare your piece to. However if you do not have a piece you can take, they often have pieces you could bring home to compare them to your floor. Also if you go to the store they may have some suggestions for you as well. Hopefully this is of some help!

    +jo alessia Good Morning and thanks so much for your question and watching our video. Without seeing the damage I am hesitant to answer your question. How big is the damage? Is it in one spot or many? If it is peeling in multiple areas and the damage is large, then unfortunately replacing may be the only option. +jo alessia You can purchase FloorFill on our online website at www.americantechnologyinc.com. FloorFill is a solid color and if the damage is deep enough and thin enough (we only recommend repairing damage that is no wider than 1/4 inch) it could work. However FloorFill is not an adhesive and wouldn't work to glue the laminate back on. I have notified our customer service person of your question and they would be more than happy to get more details from you to see if our product may be a good solution. Again it's hard to recommend a solution without seeing the damage or knowing a bit more about it and we don't want to recommend our product if it will not be the best solution. I'm afraid if it's multiple planks the best solution would be to replace the damaged planks. Good luck with your repair and sorry that we could not be of more assistance.

    Well I didn't lose a bet but being on camera is definitely not my strong suit. I'll keep working on it. Who knows maybe I'll be the next Daniel Day Lewis if I do enough videos on caulking and laminate repair products. . . .I'm not keeping my hopes up though.

    Good Morning Asim thanks for the feedback. You are correct that you can still see the damage. FloorFil is a solid color and we repaired damage on a multi-colored floor. With our product you are correct that you can see and always will be able to see the damage on laminate surfaces with multiple colors. However FloorFil does offer a quick an easy fix that covers up the damage and creates a close match. To fully repair damage like is shown the best option is to replace the laminate. Again thanks so much for your feedback and have a great day!
