How to Repair Concrete Steps | Concrete Step Refinishing Tutorial | Small Cement Area Repair

I repaired the cracked and chipped concrete step on my back porch with just a couple hours of easy work! If you have a small cement area that needs refinishing, this video will help walk you through everything you need to repair it yourself. I suspect the adherent will help. It's more plastic than cement. I used some to do limestone to upgrade my porch and that cement still in good shape. The additives are costly but worth it.

Much better than before, though it looks painted, maybe thats still better. I wonder if you could use a different overlay or leveling cement product and add glue, or those concrete fortifiers...although those seam to be tinted with a warmer color thats not a nice cold gray like you got. I actually think this is how they market the stuff. lol. $15-25 for the underlayment or fix it stuff, and then adjust color add fortifier and charge $90 per bag. :-) Well done!

greetings from germany, looks good. I work a lot with concrete. There is a reason why you put rebar or some kind of glue to combine old concrete with fresh one otherwise it will just peel of after some time. The problem in basic is that the old concrete has completly finished the chemikal reaktion and is dry to the bone. Fresh concrete doesnt bond cause the old concrete sucks the water away from the new one so that the chemikal reaction doesnt go so well. In this case its better to just put paint on it but hey

Looks great! May I ask why you have to power wash? I don't want to mess with a power washer. Can you just scrub with soap and hose it off? I merely have old stains on concrete that I am trying to cover. No cracks or textural problems. I don't want to mess with concrete paint because of insane prep work and it still can peel after. Thanks!

Parging is hard and careful work. Good touch putting the paper so that you won't get a mess. It's VERY hard to clean off cement... it sticks like baby poo and then hardens. You seem to have done your cement homework, in which case it will be your friend.

I used a similar product and it handled it really well. It only gets in the 20's and sometimes teens where I live but it should not have a problem with colder temperatures. A general warning, which goes for all concrete outside, do not throw rock salt or even the stuff they say is friendly to concrete. Did that on a small side area walk and when they weather got better I noticed the concrete was just chipping away. I forgot completely about that. Thankfully I did not do that with the rest of the concrete I refinished.

At the end you can see a close up of the texture, but it's basically the same as fresh concrete with a broom finish, little ridges prevent the concrete from being a slippery hazard.

That big block slab of concrete doesn't blend in with the stained wood should of continued building it out with the steps the slab is too wide and too bulky looking, The grass should be cut on settings 4 not so low to thick'n up and have a better look. Putting down sod is a quicker easier solution then grass seeds that can wash away with rain.
