Just a query. How do u stop mould growing on a concrete surface. Not how to clean it, as I have a pressure cleaner, but how to prevent it growing in the first instance. Its a shady area that is the problem.
@lisab3396
3 жыл бұрын
@@Blue1Sapphire Simplest and cheapest method is 50/50 bleach. Mixed in a wide bucket and use a 12" wide very soft poly brittle broom like a boat deck brush. Dip the brush in the bleach, shake the brush to drop the excess into the bucket and then gently scrub the concrete. Don't get it on anything that you don't want to damage. >>> Like your nice grass lawn! Do this cleaning on a very cloudy day or at sun up before it gets too hot. You can go back and redo a scrub as you need. The first scrub and let sit will assure the mold will die and clean up. The second pass will assure a nice even clean concrete. Take your garden hose and wash down the concrete thoroughly!! Once dry, you can use a concrete sealer if you wish! Have fun, Cheers

@@lisab3396 how about just using straight cement mixed with water and spreading it over the concrete surface. Cement is alkaline I believe and so should prevent mould growing.

I did the same thing on a many of drive ways and it worked always, however i used bond to existing concrete chemical spray to open the pours of the concrete and “ versa bond tile mortar” don’t mix with water, mix with concrete bonding adhesive only, add a little play sand and spread; the adhesion is amazing, remember to pre-set the ground after through cleaning 🧹 with a concrete bonding adhesive, the same way they apply water in this video. My way requires speed and know how, cuz the versa bond and adhesives dry fast which is good for strong 💪 curing/bonding to the already set concrete. ( something like the quick bonding in “ easy sand 5 min plaster- which is amazing too for drywall. All the methods that they used in the video with the exception of the product. Are correct. I just use a different product but the methods are the same, Great job Even in my mixing of the “versa bond mortar “ I use ( bond to existing concrete adhesive in my mix, 🙅🏾not the same as in this video “ remember” the secret is the (coats ) Do not try to get long term beauty in one coat 🤦🏼♂️ add up to three layers depending on the current condition of the concrete. This is only a “ skim coating “ process. * if you’re concrete project has more then 1/2” of damage. *Do Not attempt this process. *There’s another process for more than 1/2”damage resurfacing repair.

The best instruction video would have had a demonstration done on driveway with cracks and uneven surfaces.
Did a reseal to a smaller section of driveway sidewalk with $10 pail of quickcrete a few years ago. Removed the loose stuff with a broom, hosed it down and mixed material to soupy texture. Used a hand trowel to spread and finished with a seven inch asphalt brush. One coat has lasted three years. A down and dirty option compared to this time consuming effort. It looks fine, not close to the final outcome here but it is just a sidewalk.
This group are chimist by profession the so good at mixing and applying

So that's how the professionals do it! ( Was thinking of protecting my concrete porch) Working with your hands outdoors all day must be rewarding for you.
One thing I see with trades cleaning concrete or any other surface with a pressure washer is just using the various standard spray nozzles. I use a floor cleaner on the pressure washer. There are many benefits. The main two are, the reduced time which can increase profits and a better cleaned surface after. Then, clean the concrete surface with the nozzle.
Thanks for the video. We all need to understand that the concrete overlay is the cosmetic part of the process not the structural part. So with any cosmetics the process will wear out and need to be redone. Just like cosmetics for people they wear out over time, weather and other things. So will this process.

I like this. I know you guys are pros but I'm thinking that if you have planned where you will finish, it might be a good idea to tape down some overflow paper there outside the last piece of blue tape so you can squeegee extra product across the blue tape onto the paper.
A tip for using a sprayer; Be sure that the sprayer has a pressure relief valve. Normal valve will open at approx 40 lbs. Take an auto or bicycle tire valve stem, drill a hole to accomodate the valve stem,put the valve stem inside the sprayer and pull through the hole.The hole should be toward the top of the sprayer above the liquid level. Set an air compressor at 30-35 lbs and fill.

Hi there. Thank you so much for the informative video. I was just wondering, the concrete in my garage is chipping similar to the sidewalk shown at the beginning of the video. Would you recommend that I use this method for the concrete inside my garage? or is there a totally different method when it comes to inside concrete? Thanks again.

@@Smokey420Greenleaf Not something they did wrong on the job. Look closer and you'll see those are marks that are actually the concrete itself. Plus, they're using a brush to match the pattern on the slab which originally had a brushed look to it for better grip. The color will match the rest of the surrounding concrete as it ages and sees vehicle/foot traffic and inevitable dirt lol
By the way, that part is the city sidewalk even though it's right in the homeowners driveway. They are not allowed to do anything to it, neither are you without a city bond & notifying the city before any work is performed on it. That may not be true in the city you're in but it stands true in most places, you might want to let your customer know that because most of them don't know that either, big fines! They can paint the driveway with anything their heart desires from the expansion joint on. They could have the approach torn out & replaced if they want after notice is given to the city & it has to be a contractor with a bond on file with the city but they won't let anyone put a bandaid on it, tear out and replace is the only way.

How deep of a hole can this fix? My driveway has some large cracks and places where chunks have come out. But some of it would cover fine.
I notice when you were power washing with water that you were washing from the street side up toward the garage door, which is sloped. If I were doing it I would start at the high side (up by the garage doors) and let the dirty water flow down toward the street. That way you would not be letting dirty water at the high side of the drive contaminate the clean surface which is lower. Different strokes for different folks I guess. Good job I must add.
Great work guys.
The video was great - and very professionally done. You guys did an excellent job overall (narration, material application, thorough description of the tools used at each stage of the process)...and the end-result looks great! Pressure washing, taping at least twice, 3 coats of product, followed by 3 coats of sealer, and the requisite drying times between each coat. Plus, the labor component of at least two (and possibly three) people...in addition to the cost of the materials themselves. I couldn't help but to wonder about a cost-comparison between resurfacing that same area - and the cost of breaking out and replacing the concrete. Have you created a cost-comparison? As for myself, my motivation for carefully watching the entire video, was because the concrete in my 3-car garage (from the garage door...progressing two feet inward) is severely eroded and pock-marked due to road salt and slush that melted and fell from the vehicles (in Michigan). So, I'm evaluating my options to deal with this very pitted surface. How does your product hold-up in northern winter conditions? Will it maintain adhesion, or spall and delaminate? Once, again - great job, and great video!

It seems doable. You make it look so easy. But I'll need to do four 6'x10' slabs of driveway. But some parts of those slabs have cracked and fallen down, up to an inch or two below the driveway. Does this system level everything out, or does that situation require more intensive repair methods?
@lisat9707
9 ай бұрын
For that kind of slab movement you have massive underlying issues under that slab. Look at where your downspouts are draining and check to make sure it's finally settled and not moving more. Once it's stable that's when you can look at options to resurface it. Concrete levelling grinding and filling followed by a epoxy finish would be an idea. I'm curious to know if this method works in areas where temps are expressly cold and how well ice may stick to it
