How to repair BROKEN & UNREADABLE PSP UMDs with Scotch Tape (Improved Method 2023)

Ойындар

A while back I made a video demonstrating how I tape broken UMDs back together in order to fix them. I’ve vastly improved that method in the time since that video, so much so you can usually barely tell they have tape on them. Since the other video appears to have been helpful to so many people, I thought I’d give this perfected method a proper tutorial.

I forgot to tell you about that didn't I? lol I debated making a visual joke there but ended up leaving it out cuz I thought it might confuse people, and I wanted this video to be a little more professional lol

Can't believe the solution was as simple as pushing the front window flush with the frame 🤦🏼‍♂️ Thank you!

Awesome, engaging and well edited video dude! I didn't know the UMD had actual part names. This was a great tutorial and guide!

As far as I can tell it doesn't really. I tried to research the subject and basically came up with nothing, so I made up my own names for the most part.

Really good solution to widespread problems. Unfortunately my UMDs aren’t caved in or split, I think it’s just that the disc surfaces are dusty-no visible scratches, just little specs of dust, and I think the PSP’s laser might be dirty as well, so I just gotta but out the q-tips and the isopropyl alcohol! Also, silver PSP you had in the original video is just beautiful, I never realized it looked that great in person! Somehow, eBay listing photos don’t communicate just how GOOD metallic PSPs look. I have the radiant red, but the silver is probably the second color choice if I ever get a 1000 or 2000. My car is bronze, and I love that color, I really wish there were bronze or gold PSPs-that weren’t regional or event exclusives. Thanks so much for the updated video, helpful in case I run into these issues. **Viva La PSP!**

Thanks! and yeah, thankfully I haven't had many UMDs where I had to clean the disc. I think I had one a long time ago, but it was disc only and missing the case entirely, so i didn't hold onto it.

I'm still having problems with my Gran Turismo UMD. It looks completely fine judging by the criteria in your video and my Tekken game loads in 10 seconds consistently. I've only got 2 games out of storage at the moment so I would like to see if it's a bad copy or a bad PSP before buying more games.

Ok so, if you PSP reads other UMDs no problem, Even if you only have one to test, It's the disc that's the issue. It's probably some type of dirt inside the UMD thats causing it to get too much friction, just take some compressed air and spray into the reader cutout best you can.

Good lord, what are you people doing with these UMDs that you have them breaking on you? 😂 In 18 years and dozens of the things I've never seen even a crack.

I think it's just kids being rough on the stuff they owned. I've never personally had any UMDs I bought new do this to me, but I see used ones all the time like this.
