How to repair and change the bearing on a corded makita planer. 1923H

This repair applies to most planers, corded and cordless. Most are the same process.
It's normally always the drum bearings that fail first, but it's always worth replacing them all in one go.
The hardest part of the repair is getting the old bearings of, but one set of bearing splitters and pullers could be used.
As for installing new bearings, a hammer and correct size socket will work if you're doing this for yourself at home. It's not recommended, but it will do if you don't have a bearing press. Just make sure you are only hitting the race being fitted.

Great video. I know it’s a different tool, but do you know if the Makita 1900b also has pulleys that are left and right hand threaded? I’ve got one with the pulleys corroded on and I’m having a hell of a time getting them off without damaging anything.

Another good bit of work. What do you reckon the age of that one was? Havent seen a white makita plate in a while on a planer, also with the japanese bearings

I've watched many of your videos and noticed you tend to use a Bosch drill for assembly/disassembly. With all your experiences with tool brands, is there any you'd highly recommend vs not?

Another educational video love watching them am I correct in saying the older tools are better made than new ones for example I'm assuming given the age of this tool it was probably made in Japan if I buy any makita tool today it's always made in China
