How to repair a leaking air nail gun

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Got my old framing nail gun and started looking into why it wasn't working. This gun has been out of commission for over 2 years because of a bad air leak that wouldn't build enough pressure to even use. Today we remedy it with a very simple and quick fix.

Very helpful! Was about to throw away 3 guns of different sizes. You inspired me to repair them instead. You are a great teacher.

Three weeks ago I threw away 2 Bostitch nailers that were doing the same thing. I couldn't figure out what the issue was; I thought it was a piston problem. Next time I'll know what to look for. Thanks!

I believe it is just a thinner oil. I usually put some in all my air tools at least 2 times a year if they are not regularly used just to lubricate the rubber

I have a porter cable narrow crown stapler. The plunger will not return fully for the next staple. I've had it apart and everything looks clean smooth. Any thoughts?

@@ASliceofWoodWorkshop there are no springs on the plunger. It seems to rely on pressure under the piston to push it back up.the piston is plastic with an "O" ring. Abt half the time it doesn't return far enough to engage another staple. Thanks for any advice.
